I need a new word...I’m intending to merge the blogs I’m running with a couple of other side things I’ve got going. I need a new domain name.

I’ve looked at:

cstormhandsresources.com

cstormhandsenterprises.com

but those don’t quite capture what I want.

thoughts?

If you read my blog backwards it says “Ward is dead. Miss him.”

Finally got connected!! That d@#& Microsoft Security Update, KB951748, not only conflcted with our Zone Alarm firewall, it also blew out our modem, so even though I was able to fire up WebTV and see how to remove the update, I still couldn’t get us connected last night.

I dreaded calling ATT but called a while ago, and April got me re-connected to the internet. So, all is good in my world again!

Joseph chose Isidore as his Confirmation name, precisely because he's the Patron Saint of Computer Users and the Internet. That's Isidore of Seville, and he created what's considered one of the first things that looked like a database; that's why he's connected with computers.

There's another St. Isidore, the Farmer, and apparently he's more well known, because both my b-i-l, the priest, and the Bishop, at Confirmation, commented about the name, and asked why he chose Isidore the Farmer. Um, no.;o)

I saw a thread about that update. As far as I know, I’ve avoided the problem. Zonealarm and connectivity are OK!

I’m considering this monitor:
http://www.amazon.com/Acer-AL2016WBBD-Wide-LCD-Monitor/dp/B000OZSVX4/

Any thoughts? The specs say it has DVI input, but my computer only has VGA output. Is there an adapter I could get, or would it require a new video card?

Addendum: I just looked up the same model on NewEgg - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009108 - and the monitor does have both DVI and VGA inputs.

Well, how did you manage that? I downloaded the update about 5:00 yesterday morning, and, boom, everything went down. Today, the ATT help number messages identify the problem as between Zone Alarm and the Microsoft Security Update; yesterday, they just said the problem was with the Microsoft update. I’m not downloading it again until Zone Alarm tells me it’s safe!

I don’t know how I avoided it! And I just did an update a few days ago.

Won’t you be glad when Microsoft stops supporting XP? :)

It’s only a problem if you use the ZoneAlarm firewall.

Okay, now here’s my problem. KB951748 just automatically loaded, since I took off every vestige of it from my computer. (Thank you, CCleaner!) Should I restart my computer and have it take effect, assuming they’ve fixed it, or should I take it off again? LSA

I dunno... reading that thread, it sounded like ZoneAlarm had a patch that would fix the conflict?

Heh, SirKit thought his hard drive might have been fried by an electrical problem with his laptop. He took it to a guy in town to see if the data could be recovered. Turns out, Norton Go Back had gotten frazzled, and wasn't letting the computer boot up. The guy said it took 12 hours to get all the info out of the garble. The hard drive was fine, and the guy put all the data onto a thumb drive so SirKit could use it on the Dell laptop, for which he had bought a new docking station and battery. So he's back in bidness, except I think he still wants a new laptop. ;o)

The crucial thing was that all our most recent tax info was on that hard drive, and we needed it for the college financial aid stuff, and SirKit had forgotten to make hard copies of the tax returns when he filed them. So unlike him.

I noticed that Zone Alarm was updating several times yesterday, and I don’t understand how it could update when I had no internet connectivity, especially when the modem was also affected and had to be ~reset~ today, but my ZA firewall status in up-to-date now. LSA
