Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

sigh...well, I'm back...
Welcome back.
Lovely! Is that the beach where y’all stayed?
Morning OT - looks like a bit of summer may be back. Gardening earlier rather than later on, imho.
Welcome back Corin, pull a chair and you can regale us with your adventures by the eastern sea. G’nad said he’d shout the first round.
Morning Winmag - agree with the ‘not dwelling on Made in China’. Still if it works.... The mag carrier looks like it would hold the 20 round as well. Who makes those magazines? Magpull?
The two magazines shown are Lancer and H&K. Magpul would also work, but you have to leave off the top cover. The Magpul also has a "fat floorplate", so you can only insert the bullet end.
Just about any M16 mag, including a 20-rounder, will work, one way or the other.
I’ve been thinking over the stepping stone project. Guess I should have picked out a cheaper stone but I really like the big 2” thick ones.
Ka-ching!
Welcome back, Corkin. I hear that Hurricane Bertha is due to be approaching the North Carolina beaches in just over a week!

Thanks, that might be handy item to have. Another one goes into the saved pile. :-)
Well, I’ve heard that materials are typically 20-30 percent of the project cost, the remaining 70-80 percent being labor. So, you should get the type of stepping stone you like, you’re suppling the labor.
I really like the ones I got for thesunroom landing. They’re 2”x16”x16” and run $3.79 apiece. So for 8 stones a weekend it should run a little over $30...and I’m going to need probably 4 bags of sand....less if I don’t dig too deeply. :)
Well, don’t dig too deeply then..:-)
That sounds like a reasonable price for a whole weekends entertainment.
Went to radioshack this morning, exchanged our government cards for a converter box, actually two of them. Since the store can’t keep em in stock, they are sent direct from the warehouse at no charge. Works for me. Guess we’re not the only ones that don’t have have HD etc or cable TVs - the young clerk said he doesn’t think many folks do, he’s sold hundreds of the converter boxes since this program started.
Guess I need to get a couple of those things.
Just harvested some garlic.
Mmmm.....garlic...
I expect my house will be vampire proof while it’s drying.
*Sigh*
There’s at least one chipmunk running for cover every time I open thesunroom door.
They are all over the yard here, thecat almost caught one last week.
That's the beach where we spent most of our time. It's about 20 minutes south of where the house is. Almost to Oregon Inlet. 4wd access only.
Here's a picture of Jr's Jeeponthebeach.
We were there when Hurricane Alex hit Hatteras in 2004. I don't need another t-shirt.
Doggie question.
Sam came back from the kennel with diarrhea. They said he’s had it a couple of days. Likely due to stress and probably more activity than he’s used to (!).
He’s being pretty good about needing to go out. And he’s not really eating much. But he couldn’t hold it while we were at church.
Thoughts? Will he just get over it? Or is there something we can give him?
