Wow...vey cool. So...when would be a good time for us to order that and have you and Rose come help with the install. :-) It looks great. Can you use it to “tivo” and watch on the tv too, or only on the computer?

Heh, actually, if you browse their site a bit you'll see that their latest models don't even require you to open your computer, they'll plug right into a USB port. And, since the device has it's own tuner, you can use it to watch/record a different channel than the one being watched on the TV, so long as the signal isn't coming from a cable box. If you have a cable box, then you have to tune the device to channel 3 and use the tuner in the cable box to change the channel, which means both the TV and the device will always be on the same channel (unless you have two cable boxes...)

The only real problem with using a device like this is the disk space it takes to record a program. With a "moderate" quality setting (I used the "extended DVD" quality) an hour-long recording takes up about 1.5 Gigabytes of disk space. The highest quality takes up twice that. And those are for standard TV... the one I have doesn't do HDTV, that would probably need even more space. So, if you plan to do much of this, plan on having a lot of hard disk space available!

We actually got some rain last night. I might have to mow again before we go to thebeach after all.

I’m heading to Kentucky for the weekend. One of the other guys going offered to stop by Richmond so I could ride with him. But he’s going tomorrow. Rasputin would have a stroke if I asked for two ~more~ days off.

First thread I found about it where I could say a few things about what is going on here and some ***** moderartor pulled it with no explanation. It was annoying enough in the days before when we KNEW there was going to be a huge flood and there was not a peep about it in the MSM or even here on FR. But now you make one comparison to Katrina and *poof*.

Kinda pisses me off for some odd reason. Ninty thousand posts about katrina, even years later and not squat about Iowa.

I thought I’d ‘splained Kentucky. Maybe not.

It’s reunion weekend. The alumni director broke her leg and the current president is due to go in for cancer surgery week after next. Even though I’m technically done, I’m going back to help out for the weekend.

But see, even with my rant the other day about Katrina, you’re right here. What’s happening in Iowa is a HUGH deal and we should be hearing about it.

It makes no sense to me why it wouldn’t grip us in the news cycle like Katrina did. Or heck, even the tsunami, which didn’t happen on our shores.

On the other hand, it’s hard for the MSM and the libs to blame George Bush for this, though they might try.

Keep telling the story Talon. It needs to be told.

They’ll find some way to blame Bush. Their BDS knows no bounds.

Well, I go to the doctor on the 25th...maybe this doc will find out what’s actually wrong with me and fix it and then I’ll be able to come out with a team and help clean up before school starts back up again...

Our teams are trained in mud-out...I have a whole manual dedicated to it. If I can get there, I’ll come.

Was it the mosque thread? I was afraid that one would get nasty.

I saw one yesterday that was about Iowa versus Katrina and it was a little unbalanced but one poster said something about how “it wasn’t all of Iowa or all of Louisiana that flooded, it was Cedar Rapids and New Orleans”. Which just tells me how little anyone outside Iowa knows because it is not just Cedar Rapids but everywhere from Des Moines east.
