Yes, Puma are actually such shy and timid creatures who avoid human contact - unless there’s a meal to be had.
My sister is a 58 year old pentecostal widow who carries a .357 Smith to split wood. At her home in Mendocino County, CA tracks started appearing near her fish pond a couple of years ago. These things have wiped out all the wild pigs and most of the deer.
Used to be deer wouldn’t come within about 100 yards of her house. Last year one momma doe raised her fawn mostly in the back yard. It seems people were less frightening than the cats.
Shoot, Shovel, Shut Up.
