I keep looking for the "Scrappleface" connection.
NO WAY! This poor priest is airborn who knows where being carried by a flock of helium party balloons? My stars!
Either way it goes (he survives through a miracle or is never heard from again) it's a cosmic joke of divine humor. If this doesn't convert many an atheist, I don't know what will!

Never heard Larry killed himself. I remember when he did that. I told my wife how cool it was. She looked at me and said, “NO!!”

I don’t like the new search either. The only way I saw it was because I posted on the other thread.

I hope the Brazilian Air Force and Navy are half as efficient as our United States Coast Guard....

Where’s a flying nun when a priest really really needs her.

She is recuperating.
Brazilian media feels there is a very good chance the priest is alive, floating but under strain, as he was reasonably equipped.

I shall keep an eye out for the good father on my next flight to Argentina. Somewhere east of Rio, you think?
I wonder if he's related to the guy who managed to screw up the pattern at LAX some years back. Balloons, chaise longue, air-pistol firing BBs as his height regulating device. Made it to 5,000 ... and mirabile dictu ... back down to earth to face the FAA.
Anybody try calling Fr. Carli on the phone?

There was a young priest from Brazil
Who desperately needed a thrill
Forbidden to cause ladies to swoon
He seized upon the idea of a balloon
"If I cant makeem sigh
Ill take to the sky
And wont come back till June."
Kindly notice that in this genuine limerick, nowhere do I employ the word "Nantucket."

Mythbusters did a piece on this very subject awhile back and said this wasn't very likely. It took something like 2500 balloons just to get a small child off the ground, and that was a LOT of balloons.
