Police: Mother A Crip, Father A Westside Baller
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- A couple fighting about which gang their 4-year-old toddler should join caused a public disturbance that resulted in the father's arrest, Commerce City police said Thursday.
On Saturday, Joseph Manzanares stormed into the Hollywood Video store where his girlfriend worked, threatened to kill her and knocked over several video displays and even a computer, Commerce City police Sgt. Joe Sandoval said.
After he ran out of the store, police were called and the 19-year-old was arrested at his home.
His girlfriend told police that they had been arguing about the upbringing of their son and which gang he should belong to. The teen mother, who is black, is a member of the Crips. Manzanares is Hispanic and belongs to the Westside Ballers gang, the woman said.
"They have different ideas on how the baby should be raised. Basically, she said they cannot agree on which gang the baby would 'claim,'" Sandoval said.
Manzanares was charged with disorderly conduct, harassment, and domestic violence. He was transported to the Adams County Detention Facility.
On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was sentenced to a year of probation. The misdemeanor harassment charge was dropped.

Just when you think it can't get any worse out there.... Let's see, he is 19 and his son is 4. It takes 9 months to have a baby, so his age of siring the child would have been, at most, barely 15...

You are right. Generally the mob won’t bother you unless you make a bad deal with them. And they usually respected women and children (not all, but most). These gangs just enjoy the violence.
That being said; when I was a single mother of two toddlers and I was ‘protected’ in the projects. As a white woman with babies, they did stop a few predators (who would comment as I walked to the “you living up there alone now ain’t ya”. I was seriously terrified most of the time.
Proud to say that I only lived there a year until I saved enough for a duplex and then bought a home a year after that. It’s a tiny home, but it’s mine and I’m not on government support anymore.

Wonder which one of the parents will give the baby a gang tattoo first.
This is the next trend I’m waiting for, people tattooing their minors because they have run out of skin real estate of their own.
Myself, I lean toward the Crips.....I like the way their pants hang on their knees.

Only in this case it didn't seem too organized at all! Seriously, this would be good for quite a laugh if it didn't involve an innocent 4-year-old.
Looks like the kid will be part of the Westside Ballers.
Too bad. No kid should be raised in any gang.
