This weeks Sci-Fi Thread:
Mon:
9/8 - New Amsterdam
Thurs:
9/8 - Lost - ABC
Fri:
7:30/6:30 - The Sarah Jane Adventures
10/9 - Battlestar Galactica - SciFi
Sat:
9/8 - Torchwood -- BBC America
I haven’t seen Tourchwood yet but Battlestar Galactica was as good as I was expecting. The first 5 minutes before the opening credits had me on the edge of my seat. Now only 39,000 survivors. I can’t wait for the rest of the season.
They are going to have none at this rate.. To be honest I’m glad this is the final season that we won’t see the nightmare of the 3rd season (with a few exceptions of course)...
Yeah, it was sort of lame, definitely not as good as most of the rest of this season... I’m glad they’re letting up on the whole undead Owen thing, that got really annoying really fast, I’m betting by the end of the season he’s gonna either be not-undead or actually dead... and when do we get to see Captain John Hart again?
But the larger greatness is the two hour pilot that SciFiChanel commissioned called "Caprica".
:)
From what it look like I’m not going to watch it.. To me it is a teen version of torchwood..
Although Sarah Jane Adventures has been renewed for a season 2 in the UK, I doubt the Sci-Fi channel will extend it to Season 2. Despite having more intelligent scripts than Flash Gordon, Sarah Jane appeals to the wrong demographics. Sarah Jane might find a home at BBC America. Speaking as a longtime Doctor Who fan, I would say Elisabeth Sladen has aged gracefully. She looks as stunning now as she did back in 1974 when she made her premiere appearance in the Classic Doctor Who series.
I just watched The Time Warrior DVD where Elizabeth Sladen made her debut as Sara Jane. It was a pretty good serial and a pretty good debut for a companion.
I’d seen a few John Pertwee serials back when PBS used to show them but I have never seen this one before and was eagerly anticipating this DVD release.
The Sontarans are one of my favorite villains. They always seem to have pretty good stories. And Robert Holmes always seemed to write pretty good stories.
I’m going to give the Sarah Jane Adventures a chance. I have a friend who’s seen them and he says as long as you go in knowing it’s a kids show, it can be enjoyed.
You know they really don’t track the number of souls still alive in BSG. Moore said in a podcast they just pick a number out of the air for each episode.
One quick note, BSG had 2.1 million people watching the show an awesome comeback.....
Crap! Did I miss the season 4 begining ep?
It will be on again at 9/8 pm....
Tonight?
Friday and then they show the new one at 10/9
Sweet! Thanks.
I’ll have to set up the old VCR. I’ll be working.
Is BSG on at the same time every Friday?
(It’s a pain to set up a VCR to record on a timer when the remote’s vanished)
Having watched tonight’s episode I must say the final season is progressing rather well. The Cylons are going through a major upheaval that is well timed, Lee Adama is moving to a new role (later, ya liberal), the Final 5 is a great story arc and Katee Sackhoff’s work has been first rate.
As a 44 year old Air Force brat, I thought it was cool.
