Osprey documentary to air

Web-posted Sunday, April 6, 2008

The Military Channel will premiere a one-hour documentary on the V-22 Osprey at 9 p.m. today.

Much of the film is about VMM-263, the first operational Osprey combat squadron, but it also presents an overview of the Osprey program from its inception.

The V-22 is produced under an industry partnership between Bell Helicopter and Boeing.

Final assembly is completed in Amarillo.

PARTNERSHIP between Bell and Boeing?

Boeing OWNS Bell, lock stock and barrel.

The incompetence of the media continues to astound !

I used to see them testing it at the Bell plant on I-20 south of Arlington, it was on the way to work. Pretty impressive, it can go from a hover to scoot in a heartbeat!

Last time I checked (1 minute ago) Bell is owned by Textron. Textron and Boeing stock are listed separately on the NYSE.

It looks to me like they are separate, individual companies, although they do have a joint venture in the tilt rotor program.

Wonder if they’ll mention....

“...issues with their AE1107C Liberty engines in Iraq that may lead to the end of Power By the Hour maintenance arrangements, or even replacement of the Liberty engines altogether.”

Judging from your nom de plume, I’d guess that you are a Leatherneck aviator.

My Comcast guide shows the V-22 special airing at 10:00 PM today, Monday 4/17. Was it on last night?
