Thank you all very much for your prayers. Just got back from the VA. The doctor and surgeon are both still thinking this thing an be healed without surgery. The surgeon says they’ll be running more tests, but he doesn’t think it’s arterial disease. They’re going to concentrate for now on bringing the swelling down and curing the infections. He re-wrapped my legs (tighter) in compression dressings and will continue having these dressings changed twice a week. I’ll go back to the surgery dept for more tests on the 24th. Got a new bag of drugs today. New and stronger meds and pain pills.
Jim
I hope these new pain pills do the trick. You need your rest.
Thanks for updating us, Jim.
My prayers and love are for you, Jim.
Prayers too for the effectiveness of the stronger meds and pain pills.
Praying for you Jim.
Jim, his all sounds awfully serious, and what I am about to suggest is probably for a later date, since it sounds as though sores and sloughing and new skin cannot handle it...
I am not chair bound, unless long walking is required, but I do spend a lot of time on my ass, because walking is painful. I suffer from the same circulatory problems and edema in my lower legs, to the point that I seldom fit in shoes.
What has worked a treat for me is a bit of coconut oil and a semi-circular piece of plastic with an edge roughly as sharp as the rounded top edge of a coffee can. It kinda reminds me of an Eskimo oomak, or a hide scraper (because that is what it is for) :P
The lower leg and foot is massaged with the coconut oil for about 10 minutes, then the foot is scraped downward with the plastic with a fair amount of force, followed with the same in an upward direction, scraping the oil off as you go. The same follows with the leg... first downward, then upward around the circumference thereof.
It hurts like blue blazes to start with, but one comes to look forward to the treatment after while (daily for me for a couple weeks, then 3x/week evermore). Edema is gone for a couple days, at least, and the flesh pops back nicely when pressed, not to mention an healthy, pink tone.
Hope this helps with your maintenance hereafter.
So thankful to hear that it isn't arterial disease, and that it can be healed without surgery.
Praying for you, and for your doctors. May God bless and guide them to provide the medication and treatment needed to bring the easing of pain and the healing for which you, and all of us, are praying. May He give you strength, and bless your body to respond positively to the meds and treatment given, and may you improve daily toward better health and healing.
God bless.
Wed morning prayers, JIm. Thank you for the update. It’s encouraging that the doctors think that it’s not arterial. I pray that the stronger meds are giving you relief. Thank you Lord, for what you are doing for Jim.
I so hope that the new meds help. Keeping you in my prayers.
