NFL to Consider Hair Length Rule
AP via SFGate ^ | 3/26/8

Troy Polamalu might not have to worry about getting tackled again by his hair. At their meetings in Palm Beach, Fla., next week, NFL owners will consider a proposal to ban players from having hair flow from their helmets below their names on the back of their jerseys.

That might affect Polamalu's image, but help him on the field. Two seasons ago, the Pittsburgh safety with the long ponytail had his hair grabbed by Kansas City's Larry Johnson and was thrown to the turf after an interception against the Chiefs.

The rule banning long hair on the field was proposed by Kansas City. It does not require players to get haircuts, but does "require them to tuck it up inside their helmets,"

I’m fine with this.

I say players wear their hair at their own risk. If that means it gets ripped out, so be it.

Wait a minute. Did the players hair actually touch the ground OB? If not, it was a BS call.

Yes it did. His hair but no other part of his body touched the ground out of bounds.

Considering how strict the NFL is regarding uniforms and how they're to be worn I'm surprised they haven't established a stricter policy on hair length.

I agree with you. Some European hockey leagues have a rule governing hair length; a player's hair can be any length, but it must be tucked in if it is long enough to obscure the name on the back of his jersey.

Thats fine then. Part of his body touched OB. Good call. I was worried (well not really, but wanted clarification) that his hair crossed the plane and they called him OB. Crossing the plane is fine. Many a catch is made “OB” with just the toes still in play and only thing touching the ground.

It was legit, reviewed and everything. As far as I’m aware, that was the only time that has happened in the history of American football.

Ref photo on post #20.

Are those millipedes crawling in and out of his head?

Maybe it is just his nappy hair.

Who knows?

It all looks the same to this little dual citizenship American/Panamanian.

We know nothing, NOTHING, about PC.

You forgot to add over-paid and over-adored to the sentence.

Having been born an American and have lived here most of my life, by Panamanian law, I am also a Panamanian (like McCain).

My country, the U.S., has gone over the cliff in this PC stuff.

In Panama, PC does not exist. Certainly there are some words one does not use in polite company and prevents one from being shot. But I don’t remember what words they are, if any (about being shot, that is, if used).

Is that football player a Ho pimp?

Not only Al Harris, but Atari Bigby.

Both got that dread lock thing going on...

BTW... Aaron Rogers has gotten some long locks.

Heh, just a sport, indeed! I love football. Now basketball, that’s just a buncha guys and gals in baggy shorts bouncing a ball around and trying to get it through a hoop on a pole. Don’t even get me started on baseball! Bo-ring!

Who cares. It’s just a sport. It’s a bunch of guys throwing a ball around and tackling each other.

Sort of like teaching is just a woman who couldn't get a real job indoctrinating children into some form of liberalism. :)

(Or at least that's what I thought my teachers were.)

Thank God there won't be a "banning the mullet and meth distribution" in the stands in Kansas City.

There was a playoff game this season past where one of the the players’ dreadlocks hit out of bounds. Something else happened to not make that the deciding factor in the play, but I thought it hilarious.

Would any of the great coaches, pre-2000 have put up with a player having long, exposed hair that could be easily pulled?

My country, the U.S., has gone over the cliff in this PC stuff.

I despise liberalism and all the PC crap that's run amok in America. I just shrug my shoulders and roll my eyes.

It's becoming truly pathetic.

Here's a prefect example I posted the other day.
