Daisy made it through the surgery and transfusion and is stable. The vet's office and I have been frantically doing research on copper/nickel poisoning in dogs. Ironically, if it had been pennies she ate, her low blood red blood cell count would make senses since zinc poisoning presents the symptoms she's having.
Waiting for the next update from the vet sometime soon...
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I prayed with Daisy this morning before we headed to the vet.
Very Hopeful News Rintense!!!!!!!
My dog Bridget made it through her surgery without any complications this am. Long, dreadful night where she lost of blood draining from the tumor which ruined a couple of area rugs. We were fortunate they called to move up her surgery date by a day...just in time it looks like. Cheerio!
Wonderful news! And change back yet. How cool. Freeper prayers sure do work now, don’t they? We’ll all keep them going for your Daisy till she’s out of the woods.
I just saw this. Prayers for you and Daisy. Glad to hear the surgery went OK and hope she recovers.
I feel the same kind of bond with my cat.
You and your vet have probably already contacted the schools of veterinary medicine at places like Cornell University and Texas A&M, yes?
More prayers for you and your pup!
So glad to hear that Daisy’s surgery went well! Amazing about the coins! Keeping y’all in prayer for Daisy’s complete healing and recovery. God bless.
My dog eats everything, too. Coins might have stacked on their way through. Hope that your dog feels better soon.
GREAT NEWS!! Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo, Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo, Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo!
Possibly she swallowed one or more pennies as well, and they poisoned her before passing through her system and out. Since they’re smaller than either quarters or nickels, it’s quite possible that she ate a well-rounded menu of coins and only the larger ones got stuck inside her.
