“Don’t let your son go down on me.” was Elton’s original lyric.

Wasn’t John McCain playing “Dancing Queen” at one of his rallies a while back?

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but... hmmmmm....

I have listened to only about 3-4 of these songs back in the disco 80’s.

I forgot their introduction:

To help celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, last month we asked you to vote for what songs out of the vast catalogue of musical history you think deserve to be called camp classics.

We received thousands of votes, and now that they have all been counted counted and triple-checked, we’re proud to finally reveal exactly what songs have made it into the final list of the Gayest Songs of All Time.

In the true spirit of a countdown, we’re going to be run through the list backwards, from 50 through to one.

Tim Curry stays.

His cover of “Sloe Gin” kicks.

The don’t have “It’s Raining Men” or “I Feel Pretty”, the list is a travesty, a sham and a mockery.

I am thinking “Hand in Glove” by The Smiths should be on the list somewhere.

Village People did some overtly gay songs - “San Francisco” and “Fire Island” were huge gay club hits before “YMCA” became a top 20 song.

I have seven of those songs :(. Well six if you don’t count the fact that the “I Will Survive” I have is the Cake version and not the Gloria Gaynor version.

I’ve heard quite a few, and some of them, in their day, were okay songs. But somehow the “gay community” latched on to them, and now, apparently, they are “gay songs.” Go figure.

After reviewing the list, I have a strong urge to crank up some Led Zeppelin. I’m not sure why.

BS - Over the Rainbow is Gay now? Why? Because Jackass Jackson named his blackmailing organization “Rainbow Coalition”? We can’t let the homos hijack good words.

Oh come on! The GAYEST song ever was "I'm Too Sexy" by "Right Said Fred."

I'm Too Sexy lyrics

I'm too sexy for my love too sexy for my love
Love's going to leave me
I'm too sexy for my shirt too sexy for my shirt
So sexy it hurts
And I'm too sexy for Milan too sexy for Milan
New York and Japan
And I'm too sexy for your party
Too sexy for your party
No way I'm disco dancing
I'm a model you know what I mean
And I do my little turn on the catwalk
Yeah on the catwalk on the catwalk yeah
I do my little turn on the catwalk
I'm too sexy for my car too sexy for my car
Too sexy by far
And I'm too sexy for my hat
Too sexy for my hat what do you think about that
I'm a model you know what I mean
And I do my little turn on the catwalk
Yeah on the catwalk on the catwalk yeah
I shake my little touche on the catwalk
I'm too sexy for my too sexy for my too sexy for my
'Cos I'm a model you know what I mean
And I do my little turn on the catwalk
Yeah on the catwalk on the catwalk yeah
I shake my little touche on the catwalk
I'm too sexy for my cat too sexy for my cat
Poor pussy poor pussy cat
I'm too sexy for my love too sexy for my love
Love's going to leave me
And I'm too sexy for this song

No problem. I don't have any of them. Not only that, but those I've heard of I can count on one hand, and that also goes for the performers.

And anything by George Michael, especially that, "I will be your father figure" piece of unmitigated gayness. Blech.
