It's common in broadcasting to use on-air names.

At a multi-station radio group I used to work for there was one young lady who had a morning show slot with one name on Station A, and a news reading position on Station B with another name.

The news reader pseudonym: Paige Turner.

Indeed it is. Back in BC, one of my neighbors had a friend in AM radio and they almost never used their real names for privacy and safety reasons.

Usually, they would use the first REAL name then last name would be made up.

Just like pornstar names such as d**k harder (sorry for the example).

The traffic reporter for several of the stations here in ABQ is a lady that goes by Helen Wheels.

A friend of mine does traffic watch in my area, and I’ll catch his reports on half a dozen stations, all different names. I actually used my own name when I was in radio ... well, except for those couple of years in college when I also did a dance music show (ok, disco), and I didn’t use my real name so my jazz show listeners wouldn’t riot outside the station. :-)
