Going to New York
self | 2-16-08 | normy

Posted on 02/16/2008 7:44:50 AM PST by normy

I will be going to New York City in March and would like some help from some New Yorkers or those who have been on things not to miss. My wife is going for business (training the guy taking her job) and I am tagging along since the hotel and her plane ticket is free. My days will be mostly to myself so let me know some things to do.

Thanks

If you enjoy art museums, the Frick Collection is lovely.

She has been in Texas lately so thats a good enough reason t go leave. Its weird seeing Obama and Hillary commercials on TV in prime time here.

The double-decker bus tours are a fun way to see a lot of the city landmarks in a few hours. Also, the Circle Line boat tour is a very enjoyable way to travel all around Manhattan in an afternoon.

Central Park is awesome if you can avoid the drunks and Democrats.

Start with a bus tour - check them out timing on the web. St. Patrick’s parade is in March. Take your wife to Broadway show at night or if she is busy, check out a game as Madison Square Garden. There is also the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. WTC, UN, Empire State top, Fifth ave stores. Fugetaboudit - you won’t have enough time. Grab what you can.

Have dinner in the CRYSTAL ROOM....ONLY the CRYSTAL ROOM ay Tavern on the Green!

And the CAFE PIERRE at the Pierre Hotel is a FABULOUS place for a pre-dinner very reasonable meal!

World Yacht Dinner Cruise is UNBELIEVABLE!! Practically touches the Statue of Liberty and you get a good dinner, dancing and the LIGHTS of the City are UNBELIEVABLE also!!

If the Federal reserve still does tours, go for it...in advance and they need proof of who you are WELL before the tour.

If you’re a baseball fan like I am, check out the Yankee stadium in the Bronx. They’re going to tear it down in 2009.

You will be besieged with all kinds of delightful suggestions ———BUT -——— you must include the Circle Line Tour of Manhattan by boat! Informative, interesting and relaxing. I live in the area and always take guests on the tour -— yet never tire of it myself.

Here is a link. Check out schedules for March.

Watch where you step. City folks let their dogs poop on the sidewalk, since there isn’t anywhere else to go, & few people bother to clean up the mess.

We took a harbor boat tour, which circles Manhattan Island - a good way to see a lot w/o walking so much.

I thought there’s a 50 bucks fine if you get caught allowing your dog poop on city sidewalks.
