The Dragonflies'Lair ~ Thread XLIX~
Poets of The Dragonflies' Lair | February 15, 2008 | Soaring Feather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Those tape figures ARE amazing. I’m curious about the process.

I am thinking the sculptors used a clear mold to shape the figures.

Hi Meg, awww so sweet. Love the Polar Bears.

We are shivering again, the snow stay on the ground, cause it is cold!!

Meg, I am curious about your trees, the ones you trim with berries, what is the name of the tree?

Of course I wrote the poem, it's why it's not attributed. ;-)

Youpon Holly

It is a Texas native. We had them growing wild on our property where
we once had a lake cabin in Central Texas.

Gee, they are so pretty. No wonder you don’t like to loose the berries. Brilliant color!

Styrofoam breaks easily if handled roughly and it’d be hard to tape it gently. I like the work.

“The mold would be expensive...”

Not really, I often made small molds and a ‘figure’ formed from say easily carved balsa wood or plaster, a little RTV (room temp. vulcanizing silicone for the mold and you were ready. There is a great little book on making small molds in the Eastwood Antique car catalog that’s awesome. Easy to do and costs pennies with a bit of ingenuity.
