...the Bob Newhart Show (the one with Suzanne Pleshette).., Good call on Bob Newhart.
Besides, "Hi, Bob!" was SUCH a fun game in college - anyone else ever play?

The guy's a figurative--if not literal--idiot.
[That's a bit harsh....].
For one, Jeopardy doesn't test intelligence, but knowledge.

I agree with "The Bob Newhart Show" for comedy.
The rest of my list:
Cop/Detective Shows:
The Wire (lefty political corruption shown in all of its filth)
The Shield (an amazing edge of your chair TV viewing experience)
Columbo (my role model in life :-) )
Rockford Files (I love complex con games.)
Political: (sorry, I agree with the leftys on this this one)
West Wing (for a preview of an Obama foreigh policy)
Spy Shows:
I Spy
Mission Impossible (both versions)
Science Fiction:
Babylon 5--(Season 3 may be the best television of all time.)
Battlestar Galactica (the new one, of course)

Scoobie Doo is the only carton show that portrays the scientist as the good guy and the supernatural antagonist as the villain. Every other cartoon show does the opposite.

The original “What’s My Line”, with John Daly, Bennett Cerf, Arlene Francis, and Dorothy Kilgallen.

I'm not Mensa and I can't say these are the smartest, but the TV shows I've enjoyed most are:
Barney Miller
Friends
Roseanne (early years)
Fawlty Towers
Absolutely Fabulous
Wow, that's about it. Hm.

Green Acres with Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor was one of the best written shows of all time.

Oh common, we all know that NASCAR, NFL, MLB are rated higher and more enlightening than all mentioned.

I agree. It was just as sly and slick as any social issues crap Norman Lear cranked out, and Henning and crew deserves as many accolades.

The list of the smartest shows has to include The Prisoner, Mystery Science Theater and South Park.

Infotainment, liberal propaganda. Soft sell the agenda under the guise of being a “regular” entertainment “escape” but really push the DNC talking points OVER and OVER and OVER again.

You must be really really smart. I was jotting a list as I read this thread and it is almost identical to yours.
I added 'Are You Being Served', did not include 'Friends' and did include Newhart...all of them. Barney Miller is my top TV favorite for the US programming.

I don’t know why I liked Friends so much. It was silly, but I liked it. Are You Being Served was pretty good. Actually, the first two seasons of House were good too, but then it got kind of repititious for me. For the most part, I gave up on TV 10 years ago, as you can probably tell.

Cosmos is the only thing on that list I agree with. How can “sitcom” and “smart” be in the same sentence together?

What do you think? Is the thread still exclusive when it isn't the first thread?
