Message to the FRiberal RINOs: McCain is YOUR Fault!
Wagglebee | 2/7/08 | Wagglebee

To all of you FRiberals out there, and that means all of you Rooty Rooters and Romneyites, it's your fault that the GOP is almost for certain stuck with McCain as the nominee. Now, I don't mean those of you who voted for Romney on Super Tuesday in an effort to split the vote, but the rest of you are culpable.

Conservative FReepers have spent the past year listening to the likes of you tell us that conservatives have "had their foot on the neck" of the GOP for too long. We were told that all that mattered was someone who was strong on terror. We were told that we needed someone with strong name recognition. We were told that generally the GOP decides whose "turn it is" and then nominates that person. We were told that we needed someone who can get independent votes. We were told that ANY Republican would nominate strict constructionists to the Federal bench. We were told that winning was all that mattered.

Now, some of you who said this were supporting Rooty, some of you were supporting Romney. But you were all pretty much saying the same thing: you preferred your candidates to a conservative. Some of you even got so upset with conservative FReepers that you ran away to start a RINO forum

Well, guess what? You were successful, though not in the way you thought you would be. It looks like it's McCain's "turn." But don't worry, McCain is a war hero and strong on terrorism (as long as we don't actually take terrorists into custody or try to keep them from crossing into the United States through open borders), he says he can get independents to vote for him, he says he will appoint constructionists, and most important, he has name recognition.

So, if your real agenda was to destroy the GOP, you very well may have succeeded. If your agenda was to create a "Democrat Light" party, you have almost certainly succeeded. If your agenda was to keep the Democrats out of the White House, you have probably failed.

But regardless of what your agenda was, you have harmed the United States of America -- I just hope it's not permanent.

Defining ‘conservatism’. Romney and Hunter differed greatly in policy and history.

Right. In an open race, Romney wouldn't have endorsed a RINO like Hunter did. So Romney is more conservative than Duncan Hunter. I had forgotten that- thanks for bringing it up.

Obama is dangerous because he is treated like he is the second coming. His supporters don't know a thing about what he believes in, but he is their savior!

Obama File

Obama is dangerous for many reasons!

“I don’t write many vanities, but the RINOs have screwed us this time.”

Yes sir, they indeed have. I could not agree with you more.

Long as you are trying to offend Republicans, how about blaming those hick Huckamorons too? And the McCainiacs. And the kook Paulians, what a laugh riot those guys are. Who did I forget? Oh, yeah, the zombies who supported their dead guy, Thompson. How could I forget the dead guy!

Anyone still unoffended?

We need candidates who appeal to all the different groups within the party. Instead we have candidates who set the different groups at each other's throats, as we have seen play out here on FR. This thread is just more of the same.

These days I bet James Carville has a permanent smile on his face.

Talk about passing the buck. It was the “ultras” here who tore down every good alternative to McCain. Well, you wanted Capt. Queeg, you got him.

McCain’s on you, dude. You refused to get behind sensible alternatives. Enjoy him.

For a moment there I thought you were talking about Mitt supporters. They treated him like he was Elvis Presley or the Beatles. It was truly an eye opener for me to witness that here on FR, a conservative forum of all places.

Every national success conservatives have had since 1980 is due in large part to “The Evangelicals.”

I agree with that. I also agree that they have been condescended to and betrayed by the Republican establishment. They have come to be counted on to do the heavy lifting come election time, and ignored every other time. 2006 was a shameful example of this. This time they acted irrationally in supporting Huckabee, who is a socialist. That is why I say that I blame them. I think that the GOP had it coming, however. The problem is, we are all going to suffer the consequences, RINOS (I am sick of that word) Conservatives, and Evangelicals.

Amen, bro. I was here near the beginning, and am disgusted at how a good candidate like Romney was thrown overboard in favor of cardboard candidates like Hunter and Fredwho never were serious.

We have been without a conservative leader for several years now. Most young voters think of Reagan as we do Abraham Lincoln. History books only.

“You refused to get behind sensible alternatives. “

It’s sad that people like you think that we have to settle for “sensible alternatives” (RINOS and Liberals) simply because they might appear to be more electable. It’s people like you who got us in this mess in the first place. Now you try to blame conservatives for this. No sale!

I don’t like McCain, never did.

I showed interest in Hunter early on. He never even got off the ground.

Fred Thompson caught my eye, but his total lack of interest in the job turned me off.

Among those remaining, Mitt Romney stood out to me as a conservative, family-values oriented candidate whom I could easily support.

I voted for him Tuesday night.

Now he is out. Will I vote for McCain? I don’t know yet.

More to your point:

I’m pretty sure I’m not a liberal. And I’m pretty sure I’ve done nothing personally to destroy the Republican Party or the conservative movement.
