Well since 2008 has been a disaster and we don't need to bring any of the current candidates back for a redo next cycle, it's time to look ahead.
I for one am of the opinion that my Governor, Haley Barbour would be a good choice if he were to run. His term in Mississippi will be done and he will have made good on his commitment to us. He will have been a two term Governor and is good on a variety of issues. Add to that his performance during Katrina, and the contrast Mississippi was to Louisiana and we have a winner.
So...

Hayly had better think twice before he signs that fat people bill that some fools are trying to push through.
To: Greg F
Get over it! That is the way that we speak in this part of the world.
To: Non-Sequitur
I hope not, we need to stay away from Mitt, we don’t need a redo of 2008.

I highly doubt he will sign it, one because he won’t and two because it will never get that far.

You are pretty new to be making such hateful remarks.
George Bush is going to go down in history as one of the best CIC’s this country has every has.
To: fulminatio
Nice Dem talking point, some liberal hack site made the same basic claim.
He was a lobbyist, which is a legal political activity. He has also been a hell of a Governor.
The worst thing you can say is he has contacts.

Just joking! How’s the little guy doing?
To: trisham
He is just following the same coastal design ideas that have made places like Seaside and Destin so popular for tourist.
They also follow the ideas of preservation while maximizing economic potential. Very capitalistic, they are not "giving it away", just making better use of the resources to make an area more attractive for business and population growth.

No I don’t think so. Romney has been a fiasco, we don’t need to do that again. He has too many issues to take the general and between Florida and yesterday that is now very obvious. His politics kills him with the conservative base and his religion kills him in the south and among some of the religious right, enough of both to make him a problem from the get go. Sorry that is just fact, I wish we were past that. That does not change in 4 years.

At first, I didn't think Romney's religion would be that big of deal, but I've talked to a lot of people, and apparently, it is that big of a deal. And many others, probably wouldn't say it publicly, but privately it probably was a deal-breaker for them.

I know, 2012 the voters will come their senses and elect a savior as President. Don’t count on it.

I’m an Evangelical, but I don’t fear Romney’s Mormonism as much as I fear McCain’s traitorous ways.

I was listening to Rick and Bubba out of Birmingham yesterday. It was a topic for many callers so I figure it has to have a major impact in Dixie as well else where. I knew it would but never tried to make an issue of it here since you are immediately labeled "bigot" even if you don't agree with the practice but acknowledge it as a factor.
Why we had so many back a guy already handicapped by political realities is beyond me. Politically correctness has no role in political strategy.

We absolutely need to be grooming some solid Conservatives for the next for years. Barbour is a good choice, but we can’t put all our eggs in one basket. We need to have a number of good, solid, credible conservatives who are able and willing to run a national campaign and to get elected. This holding our nose business has GOT to end.
