His politics kills him with the conservative base and his religion kills him in the south and among some of the religious right, enough of both to make him a problem from the get go. At first, I didn't think Romney's religion would be that big of deal, but I've talked to a lot of people, and apparently, it is that big of a deal. And many others, probably wouldn't say it publicly, but privately it probably was a deal-breaker for them.

I was listening to Rick and Bubba out of Birmingham yesterday. It was a topic for many callers so I figure it has to have a major impact in Dixie as well else where. I knew it would but never tried to make an issue of it here since you are immediately labeled "bigot" even if you don't agree with the practice but acknowledge it as a factor.
Why we had so many back a guy already handicapped by political realities is beyond me. Politically correctness has no role in political strategy.
