Radio is saying that there is a lot of damage at Airways and Stateline. Pretty close to our old stomping ground.Yikes. Sounds like hubby had better call his family too.

Memphis Fire reporting Taco Bell on Winchester Rd. hit w/numerous injuries

From the food or the tornado?

Seriously, this sounds much more serious than a simple weather alert. Seems like we should at least be changing the title to Tornado Warning.

Poor Rowsey, but that is a funny joke.

I’d like to find out more about the Clinton, AR area. Has anyone heard, did it get hit?

The strong tornado that struck Oxford, MS continues to race northeast. Local law enforcement are tracking the tornado and apparently it has caused heavy damage in the vicinty of Bethlehem, MS and is making a beeline directly for Hickory Flat, MS. (per Stormtrack website)

At least we can keep this thread at the top for the cubicle-bound, although they said on WTC that schools and businesses let out early in anticipation of this weather event.

It was very serious. Nat. Weather Service issued a “Tornado Emergency". Something that I have never head of!

I’ve requested the mods to change the title to “Major Tornado Outbreak” and place in breaking.

All we got in Bartlett was a LOT of rain. On the way home, I heard of a funnel cloud at Whitten Road and Yale Road. Haven’t heard of a confirmation. Still, it was a wild time. I don’t get nervous about storms, but this was a different kettle of fish. Hope you’re ok and didn’t sustain any damage. Just waiting for the squall line to get here and gone from Arkansas. We don’t need any more problems.

thanks tork,

but Shelby Co. is Memphis - way way west of me. I’m upper east corner (think Bristol)

We may get something from the system; but, the mountains often serve to diminish some of the strength.
