Surprisingly insightful article from a website best known for pieces like "The Week in Douchebaggery." WARNING: Contains strong language.

Funny piece, but may strike a nerve or three.

-—say a photo turns up of you nakedly doing something that would shame you and your family for generations. Bestiality, perhaps.-—
One in four would post it on the net and tell all their stupid friends about it.

This website is KILLER. Chock full of hillarious stuff. Check out the one on the 5 most crazy-assed bugs, or something to that effect. Scary.

Ahhh...the monthly decisions of my youth...do I spend my money on ‘CRACKED’ magazine or on ‘MAD MAGAZINE’...such were the simple dilemmas of childhood.
I usually bought MAD.

Very good article (the language was strong, but effective to make the point the author was striving to make).
I think part of the reason I’m such a happy person is that I am blessed to have a lot of great friends (of all kinds), a loving family, and a really caring church family. As the author notes, to have those connections means immersing yourself in the human condition rather than the electronic one. I use the internet to maintain contact with the people I don’t see on a regular basis, to let them know they are in my thoughts. And it is a valuable tool for people who cannot get out: as my parents age and get more frail, they keep in touch with grandchildren and greatgrandchildren through email on a much more frequent basis than they would through letters or phone calls. But for the rest of us, the point is valid that we need to exit the cybersphere occasionally to maintain real connections with real people because we need them and they need us.

Fortunately my acquaintances and friends are seasoned enough to know that it is not sophisticated to dig for secrets and virtuous enough not to reveal one.
Besides they are too busy in their own personal fulfillment.

a LOT of perceptiveness . . .

The MSM is making me miserable but I find myself unable to tune them out. The weather people are the worst with their storm stories and entire “what if” programs of doom. “What if” the sky falls? Well if it does and it doesn’t fall directly on me I’ll just do the best I can with what I have left. If it does fall on me, then I guess I don’t have to worry about it.
Last week there was an entire program on what would happen on earth if man was to completely disappear. We already know what would happen without maintenance men and yard men, they don’t have to completely disappear to know that. The yard would grow up and cover the house and in time, the house would fall down.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out but the had a number of scientists explaining it to us like we were 1st graders. I got so disgusted I threw a hissy fit and left the room.
