The Dragonflies' Lair~Thread XLVII
The Poets of The Lair | January 31, 2008 | Soaring Feather

Posted on 01/31/2008 7:59:38 PM PST by Soaring Feather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

I know you are loving your white winter..I can’t complain about this one here really..I am enjoying puttering around in the yard so I like this warm spell.

I pruned some limbs on the youpon again and stopped before my back yelled at me. I will have some 60s days coming up that will be warm enough for me to to do a bit each day.
I hate cutting off the limbs loaded with red berries but now is the time...I’ll need to do the same to the nandina ..trim off the berries before it shoots up too high.

I love 70 and cooler and want a little snow. When it heads for 80s and up and humidity rises it’s hard on me.

Bitter land sheathed in white robes
empty of sound but for the crack of ice
too long the time for robes
too long the driest of food

oh sing of the warming land
and of life when water flows again
of birds that give thanks to the sun
and children laugh

From Stone Bear’s ‘first poems’
1958 Hardin Montana
