Value-oriented conservatives have been around and influencing Presidential elections since LONG BEFORE 2004. You may have it right that Huckabee is the only candidate for whom many value-oriented people such as myself will vote, but there are lots of other conservatives who will never vote for him. So regardless, I think we need to face the cold, hard reality: since the GOP cannot seem to produce a viable candidate who is acceptable to both social and other conservative factions, the Dems are almost certain to win.

Huckabee would be eviscerated by the media. Most folks wouldn’t vote for him because they want to get their preaching in Church, and they don’t trust someone who spends all his time evangelizing. It makes them wonder just what he’s really like, because they don’t trust someone who puts everything in narrow religious terms.
