“His fellow students, misunderstanding Thomas’s humility and reticence, gave him the nickname “the Dumb Ox.” After hearing one of Thomas’s theological arguments, St. Albert declared, “We call this young man a dumb ox, but his bellowing in doctrine will one day resound throughout the world.””
I seem to be unintentionally offending a lot of people lately.
*sigh*
Nully, you couldn’t offend me. I do a good enough job of that on my own.
I just seem to be doing the same thing - offending others - and that is the last thing I would ever intentionally do.
I think I hear the “Ice cream truck”. (IOW, I need to go greet it - and get some sugar.)
yorkie, I enjoyed watching that. I don’t understand why you are so upset. It was interesting & I never saw it before....I wouldn’t be so upset. If it offended anyone then so be it. You didn’t post it to offend anyone, I know you & I know that you wouldn’t do that. Big hugs ~Pandy~
Of course - I did not post it to be offensive in any way. I just found it interesting - but looks like I shouldn’t have clicked that ‘post’ button.
I told John Robinson tonight, that I there are some posts I would like to delete. This is one of them.
And, Oh. By the way. BIG HUGS BACK AT’CHA!!!
Why? It was a fine post. It managed to be both esthetically pleasing and educational.
..............and controversial. Dang - I hate when I do that.
And, Pandy - if you keep shaking your head, yer gonna get a whiplash, gurl fren.
I am sorry my comment was misunderstood yorkie - I think your post was very interesting and a perfectly reasonable subject to open up for discussion.
I just made the comment that I, personally, would be paddling into dangerous waters on here if I made any comment.
Religion has survived for thousands of years - long before the the birth of Christ from the very fact that it does not rely upon, but in fact defies logic - therein lies its strength and durability, it is completely unassailable by logic. Myth, superstition, illusion and magic are its stock in trade and heresy its counter argument.
I am simple cognisant of the fact that it is dangerous to attempt to fortify any belief system with logic. Logic is the enemy, logic will destroy it. The marriage of Mathematics, the Queen of Science, and Theology is a marriage made in Hell. :)
I see that you too Yorkie, recognise how such a marriage would grievously harm both parties.
Nully, there are 24 bottles in a case of beer. There are 24 hours in a day. Coincidence? I think not.
Who would be dumb enough to argue with that tight reasoning. Perhaps tight is the wrong word let us say, such a sober assessment.
There are 360º in circle and 365 days in a year - Math sucks.
The extra 5 are supposed to be holidays...
Religious holidays I presume - They had to fit them in somewhere — Thanks for the heads up.
Natch. One for each God...
I suppose it is best to play safe, the gods are pretty jealous.
Galicia is one of the poorest autonomous regions of Spain. Its economy was mainly farming, fishing and shipbuilding. The fishing and shipbuilding have decreased substantially in the last ten/fifteen years.
Strangely enough everyone seems to live well.
The language of the Hymno de Galicia sung by Julio Iglesias is Gallego.
That is beautiful, Cardi! I loved the water and the woods! Were all those pictures taken from the same area in Spain?
They were all taken in Galicia by someone from Vigo - I did not really post it for the picture but for the Canto Galicia I think it is a very unusually constructed song. Try as I might even with the words in front of me I did have difficulty hearing them - of course on occasions I did match up a word with what he was singing.
Right no I am having trouble with a couple of CDs my SIL lent me to copy — I cannot get my computer to recognise them but my CD player can play them OK. I wonder if it because they are digital.
We were playing them in the car and the sound was magnificent just like a concert hall only much better. Of course he has a great system or maybe he played a track that showed it off.
I always thought computers could play anything.
