Campaign Gets Underway...to Convince You Not to Oppose the Gov's Toll Hike Plan Too Strongly

A highly emotional, intense political campaign is being kicked off in Jersey - with a "candidate" who isn't even human.

The campaign is to convince Jersey residents to go along- at least somewhat - with Governor Corzine's plan to dramatically increase tolls in order to save the State from financial ruin.

Dr. Brigid Harrison, a professor of Political Science and Law at Montclair State University, says when you're trying to sell this kind of an unappealing idea, "you attempt to convince voters to at least be neutral on this issue, or have some kind of benign, non-resistance to it…I don't think the Governor is expecting anybody to have signs on their lawn saying Please Raise My Tolls…what he's really hoping for is that his proposal gets thru the Legislature because people are not actively opposed to it."

She says the campaign has been kicked off with the Governor's town hall style meetings all over the State, and the next phase may very well involve radio and TV commercials being aired that remind Jersey residents that "a fair portion of these toll hikes will be paid by out-of-state motorists- and I think that part really is kind of sellable…because people will say hey, you know, if we don't do this, then we, New Jersey taxpayers are going to be stuck with the entire burden."

She adds putting off the first toll hike until 2010 is helping to mute public outrage and hysteria about the idea.

"I'm not going to say people are going to forget about it" says Dr. Harrison, "but what they are going to do is kind of get used to it."

Luckily I am only on a toll road about once a month, but this is ridiculous.

I suppose if he cannot get this to work he is going to raise property taxes to the breaking point for most people here.

Our living expenses will raise right with it. All our goods that are trucked in will have to offset the tolls, on to us. Even gas will go up.

Hmm he doesn't have to wear a seat belt, ( he is above the law) He doesn't have to pay tolls as he rides in state police cars...Seems to me he needs to GO.

I could see if he showed us just where all the money goes but he won't , can't & is another corrupt BS-er. I use the parkway but I won't if he hikes tolls up too much.

The state budget has been mismanaged for far too long.

THEY BORROWED AND FIDDLED WITH THE BOOKS AND THIS IS WHERE WE ARE.

We need to start by cutting a lot of useless government jobs, you know the positions that were created by politicians to give a family member a big fat check to sit in an office and do nothing...

I had the news on while in the car and it was reported that Corzine was on a conference call with Hillary Clinton talking business on running the state.

We haven’t had the opportunity to VOTE in local elections for years because of the “legacy system”. Even though the State of NJ was under Federal Orders NOT to use their voter registration “legacy” system which contains DEAD voters and People that long moved away, THEY DID IT ANYWAY.

What NJ DID:

http://www.govtech.net/magazine/channel_story.php/101667

A stipulation and order agreement between the state and federal governments provides New Jersey additional time to implement a statewide voter registration database while ensuring that the November 7 general election operates fairly and guarantees all eligible voters the right to vote, Attorney General Stuart Rabner announced today.

The agreement allows the postponement of full implementation of the statewide voter registration system, which was scheduled to be in effect under provisions of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) and a related state law. Instead, the state will use the existing county voter registration rolls as the official system for this fall’s election.

The state today also sought a declaratory judgment in Superior Court delaying the full implementation of the statewide voter registration system because exclusive use of the statewide system that could result in problems that could threaten the integrity and orderly administration of the election.

So, Corzine got in office on the “legacy system”.

NOW, we are losing our opportunity to vote in the Federal Elections because Corzine entered the agreement to give our electoral votes away:

We have to fight back or move. Become part of the Flying Pig Coalition!
