She is just so lovely...I find it so refreshing! ;)
Kristy’s performance made me dizzy!
yup..and probably 2-3 times..
Kristy Lee isn't going anywhere. She's this years' Hayley. The T&A vote will carry her for quite a while.
Well, I personally can't stand The Beatles and most, if not all, of their songs bug me. But some of the arrangements that were done last night, actually made me like the songs.
Here are my thoughts on the top 12:
Syesha Mercado - I Got To Get You Into My Life
Comments: I got to get that song outta my head.... It was good, but forgettable. Some of us were "not likin' it"...
Chikezie Eze - She's A Woman
Comments: And Chikiezie is rockin'. I really liked his song choice and the arrangement he did with it. He's good. In my Top 3
Ryan is a goof ball!!!
Ramiele Mulabay - In My Life
Comments: In my life, I haven't been so bored. She sang well, but it was so borrrrrring. I really like her too, so I hope she does better next week.
Jason Castro - If I Fell
Comments: Maybe if he fell, he'd lose his guitar... I didn't much care for his rendition of the song. It was boring and I like how Simon described it as "student in the bedroom at midnight" kind of thing.
Carly Smithson - Come Together
Comments: It seems AI has come together and is pimping her to be their "star". I did not agree that she was all that this week. I thought it kind of sucked, actually, and was not a good song choice for Carly.
David Cook - Eleanor Rigby
Comments: If I didn't look at him, I'd say his performance was great. He actually had a good sound this week. But as soon as I look at him, I see his annoying hairstyle and the arrogance as if he thinks he's all that (and he's not), and it just totally turns me off to him. In my top 3 this week.
Brooke White - Let It Be
Comments: Let it be said that she can sing, but this song, imo, was boring.
David Hernandez - I Saw Her Standing There
Comments: I wonder if he'd strip for her? haha...This was very karaoke. Randy said it right...it was over the top, over done.
Amanda Overmeyer - You Can't Do That
Comments: I thought she did do that, pretty well actually. I'd pay to see her. And I love that she has such a unique sounding voice. In my Top 3
Michael Johns - Across The Universe
Comments: Across the universe, people are falling asleep... I keep expecting (and wanting) him to do another "Bohemian Rhapsody", but he just comes out mediocre every time. What's up with that?
Kristy Lee Cook - Eight Days A Week
Comments: 7 days a week they have stars just like her, on the CMT channel. And if I wanted to hear Country Idol, I'd watch the CMT version... I SO did not like this. She should go home this week
David Archuleta - We Can Work It Out
Comments: But apparently, HE can't work it out, forgetting lyrics.... It was a bad song choice and he didn't do so well. It was a mess.
Regarding Carly, I see that Danielle Brisebois helped write and produce her album Ultimate High. Brisebois has connections to writing and producing other idols albums too, like Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken.
I guess it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that AI is pimping her so much, especially since Randy was VP for MCA records at the time she was there.
That performance really was a train wreck. Her vocals may have been ok, but the arrangement was just 'wrong'! It was one of those 'risks' that backfired tremendously, but you couldn't help but listen and watch to see if it was going to get worse. jmo
Why didn’t anyone stop her???
I wonder if those that did the arrangement just didn't realize that it was being too countrified. To be it bordered on being a parody. I half expected to mimic riding a horse while singing.
If you would have peaked in my windows, you would have seen my husband galloping around my livingroom and slapping his butt, while twirling an imaginary lasso to her song.
His performance was stellar. ;^)
A little aside, I know some people in this thread were watching that show 'Gone Country'. I was wondering if anyone else was disappointed in who won?
Absolutely. I could see anyone but him or Cisqo as the winner. I suspect the "fix" was in to pimp up Julio as a crossover country star to the Hispanic audience.
I didn’t know Danielle was writing. I know her well as a child actor.
Love your thoughts!
We're on the same page then, because I thought the exact same thing. He could have justified any other persons having won, except those two.
I think he mistook the screaming girls at Iglesias for talent when it was hormones on the rampage. I also thought like you that he was looking for a cross over for the hispanics, but Iglesias had kind of let it be known he wasn't into country.
I don't see why they thought it would be so difficult anyway. Marty Robbins used to incorporate spanish into his songs, so did Freddy Fender and others.
I thought the gals all did great and even Snyder and Brown pulled it off for the most part.
I ONLY like Carly Smithson and David Cook. All the rest can leave, as far as I’m concerned.
Which is why I don’t usually watch AmIdol until the last couple of weeks. Too much crappy singing to wade through.
You guys go on and enjoy the show.
Yeah, All in the Family and Archie's Place. At least that's where I remember her. I guess she writes a lot.
