Gee, Simon. Ya think?
And come to think of it, I surely haven’t seen all the CSI episodes airing on Spike, not to mention all the football now on (not for long though), and well, the Hallmark channel is good if you want to break out the hankies. Kiss my butt, writers, don’t miss your stinkin shows!
I feel like summer's over and we're all returning to school.
Missed everyone and will enjoy catching up.
Exactly - except my TV is still plugged in but rarely on. I can cut it on now....for the first part of AI anyway. I love the tryouts portion. I dropped out of these threads pretty early on last year - til the final week or two. Sanjaya just put me out...what a joke.
Thanks, SJ, for starting the AI threads up again. How many years have you been doing this now?
Hello to all the “oldtimers” and any “newtimers” on the AI threads.....and to all who think this is just plain a waste of time....yes it is —— so stay off these threads.....LOL.
Very Cool Dawg!
Im leaving after work tomorrow, driving from Baltimore to York PA, to spend the evening watching the Idol kick off with my nice. Its sort of a tradition with us. It started when we lived together for a time, both of us going through some difficult personal times and painful break ups and Idol provided us with some escapism from real life and some comic relief.
She and I share the very same sarcastic sort of humor gene. We watch Idol with a sort MST3K dialogue going on the whole time. While we are both music lovers and musicians (although not singers) at one time or another in our lives, and while we really appreciate seeing the real talent, there is something very sadly satisfying in laughing at people making complete fools of themselves. We know its wrong, but we cant help ourselves. I love the bad auditions. Does that make me a bad person?
But I am interested to see how this years show may be a bit different in that the contestants are allowed to play an instrument as well as sing. That might make things a bit more interesting.
Im looking forward to this years competition. I hope that there is no Sanjia making it the finals. And enough with the Country, Standards and Pop signers; personally Id like to see a real rocker or an original singer-song writer make it this year. Id like to see someone doing some original songs rather than just reinterpretations of covers.
BTW I love the drawing. You are very talented.
Not me, I love the bad auditions.
Hi again jonny. Hi all.
Messy story on Jessica Sierra. Sad.
Today’s the Day Bump! Thanks for the thread, Jonny - this is going to be fun!
This year's telethon is slated for April 9th.
American Idol Hosts "Idol Gives Back" Again Wednesday April 9 12/13/07
IDOL GIVES BACK RETURNS WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9, ON FOX
After raising an astounding $75 million last season, AMERICAN IDOL will once again host IDOL GIVES BACK, a music celebration raising awareness and benefiting various U.S. and international charities.
The two-hour concert and fundraiser will air Wednesday, April 9 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.
In 2007, IDOL GIVES BACK raised $75 million for various U.S. charities that deliver support to underprivileged children in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the country, providing them with medical care, food and grocery products, health and life skills, literacy programs and obesity prevention, among other important initiatives. In Africa, funds were dedicated to organizations that support efforts to battle poverty through various health and education programs, including delivering medical supplies and providing clean water.
The brainchild of Simon Fuller, last seasons IDOL GIVES BACK special featured performances from the AMERICAN IDOL stage, where Ryan Seacrest hosted alongside AMERICAN IDOL judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell. The special was also broadcast from the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles where Ellen DeGeneres served as host.

I'd heard that Taylor is suing for breach of contract. They hadn't represented or promoted him as they did past winners. I hope its true and that he wins. I tried a search and so far all that came up is the following, and the link led to an empty blog page.
It's A Soul Thing!: Taylor Hicks - Did JRecords Breach His Contract?Taylor Hicks - Did JRecords Breach His Contract? Mr. Hicks was not dropped by his label, as has been widely reported over the past couple of days. ... soulthing.blogspot.com/2008/01/taylor-hicks-did-jrecords-breach-his.html - 69k -
Hopefully this time around they will go for talent over a "look". Even the judges reached a point of frustration with the last bunch. Between Sanjaya & Skankarella I felt like giving up myself.
