Missing (Pregnant) Marine Dead, Authorities Say
KWTX ^ | 1/11/2008 | n/a

January 11, 2008)--Authorities in North Carolina said late Friday morning pregnant Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach is dead.

They said she’s buried in a shallow grave, for which investigators are now searching.

They identified the suspect in the case as a Marine officer whom she accused of sexually assaulting her.

Police earlier were planning to interview a man who lived with her and said he would answer questions that "will shed a lot of light on the case."

Authorities said again Friday Marine Sgt. Daniel Durham isn't a suspect, but police believe he's the last person to speak with the Marine.

She disappeared Dec. 14 ahead of her expected testimony in a military investigation into her claim a senior officer had sexually assaulted her.

Court documents show the investigation went sour amid inconsistencies in the woman's story and allegations that she's bipolar and a compulsive liar.

Search warrants show she was facing a possible discharge from the service.

Lauterbach was eight months pregnant when she disappeared.

“I was going to say that it’s kind a hard to bury yourself in a shallow grave after you’ve committed suicide. Maybe not impossible, though.”

I’ll bet Vince Foster could have done it.

Old joke.

Police detective: She was stabbed 40 times.

Police chief: Most determined case of suicide I’ve ever seen.

****And, who’s the father of the unborn child?****

No-one in LE will speculate. I will, however.

Perhaps Cpl. Lauren was fearful of DNA/paternity proof of the *rape* or child support, or being kicked out of the Marine Corps.

How to you bury yourself after a suicide?

Trust me, it's kinda difficult.

Happens all the time in Arkansas ... especially when Clinton was governor.

Yes ...

Another one where a female doesn’t hack it when physically threatened ...

‘Person Of Interest,’ Missing Hiker’s Dog Found

POSTED: 4:52 pm EST January 2, 2008
UPDATED: 8:51 am EST January 5, 2008

“Friends believe she spent Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night outside in the cold north Georgia mountains. Temperatures reached into the teens those nights. Her roommate said Emerson is an experienced hiker familiar with the mountains.

“Let me tell you something, Meredith Emerson can do anything,” said family spokesperson Peggy Bailey. “She’s a strong person.”

...

Emerson’s roommate said Emerson left a note saying she went hiking with her dog. Authorities said they have located Emerson’s car — a Chevy Cavalier — and her dog’s leash, but they have found no sign of Emerson or her black Lab, Ella.

...

“She’s an experienced hiker and a blue belt in martial arts,” said Julia Karrenbauer, Emerson’s roommate. “She’s athletic and has a good head on her shoulders. So we’re just hoping for the best.”

http://www.wsbtv.com/news/14964662/detail.html

Yeah ... a “blue belt”, “athletic” and a “good head on her shoulders” really served her well as she met up with a creep, ALONE, allowed the dogs to play together and then wound up DEAD. A female is no match for a male - PHYSICALLY. If she was a match, she’d be ALIVE.

The end result:

Georgia hiker died of a blow to the head, then was decapitated, autopsy finds

Males don’t have periods, don’t get pregnant and aren’t emotional as females do. Males are wired DIFFERENTLY.

Oh well, defy the obvious!

You’re very welcome. Many stories on the links below show just how brave some of these women were. Drawing fire themselves so troops on the ground could get to safety.

Males ... aren’t emotional as females

You obviously have not witnessed some late night divorce/wicked ex-wife threads here on FR.

Also you might want to check out the thread about the guy who killed his infant daughter because he wanted a son. Sounds pretty emotional to me.

Call me old-fashioned, but I still for the life of me can't figure out why attractive young blonde girls are Marines, or why they want to be Marines.

Course, I felt the same way about Jessica Lynch when she was in the media after being injured in Iraq. Sheesh. We are one mixed-up nation.

Photos of Miss Lauterbach:

If I were innocent, I would still get a lawyer. You would be nuts not to have legal counsel.

It will be interesting how this plays out. Prayers to her family.

The press conrinues its unbroken record of being a total dumbass when it comes to reporting the military.

Not just about the military. Any topic. What amazes and frustrates me is how widespread this inattention to detail remains, across the board in journalism.

I'll bet most people can identify with this: Every single time I've been involved in something, on the inside, that was then reported in the press-- every time-- there have been material errors of fact in the story. Often just simple things: names wrong, titles wrong, place names wrong... simple things that merely needed the most elemental of editorial fact checking. Sometimes though, there were material errors that changed the whole nature of the story.

It's made me automatically suspicious of even the most straightforward of stories and most basic of "facts" in the story. The press just can't be trusted.

“But dead.... which says that the smear, which seems to have worked for a time, was somebody’s way of trying to impugn her motives.

Lesson: when the accused (the senior officer, in this case) goes ad hominem, it’s worth wondering what he’s trying to hide.”

Bingo....as in O.J’s smearing of Nicole as an unbalanced cokehead.

Just check out the stories with any husband accused of murdering his wife “she was on drugs!” “her supplier must have killed her!” “she was nuts! - she ran off somewhere!”....etc. etc.....

easy to paint someone is a bad light when they’re dead and cannot defend their reputation.
