Missing (Pregnant) Marine Dead, Authorities Say

January 11, 2008)--Authorities in North Carolina said late Friday morning pregnant Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach is dead.

They said she’s buried in a shallow grave, for which investigators are now searching.

They identified the suspect in the case as a Marine officer whom she accused of sexually assaulting her.

Police earlier were planning to interview a man who lived with her and said he would answer questions that "will shed a lot of light on the case."

Authorities said again Friday Marine Sgt. Daniel Durham isn't a suspect, but police believe he's the last person to speak with the Marine.

She disappeared Dec. 14 ahead of her expected testimony in a military investigation into her claim a senior officer had sexually assaulted her.

Court documents show the investigation went sour amid inconsistencies in the woman's story and allegations that she's bipolar and a compulsive liar.

Search warrants show she was facing a possible discharge from the service.

Lauterbach was eight months pregnant when she disappeared.

Christina’s maiden name - Smith. Her father lived in Marion, Ohio. Her mom and stepdad (Shifflet) I think live in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Re. Laurean’s parents - try Ramirez, Elvira and Salvador (sp?).

I think there is a definite negative morale factor in the current situation that extends beyond just Laurean and Lauterbach.

Worth repeating, loudly. The sick part is, I don't think it's an unintended consequence.

Christina’s dad lives in Marion, and her mom lives in Upper Sandusky?

Yes at least on their marriage license he is listed as Marion, OH. And Mom, Debbie is in Upper Sandusky, OH

K.. there are a TON of Christina Smith hits in Ohio. I narrowed some of them down to age range and race.

Any idea of her birthdate or age? Also what year did they get married so I can figure out the ones before that?

There is one for a Christina Smith born in 1983, happened in 2001, giving alcohol to minors... just as an example.

Tried to search for more info on her on the boards, but there is too many threads!!!

Christina was born in 1983. Christina and Cesear were married in August, 2005. Her father’s home town is Marion, Ohio. I think her full name was Christina Sue Smith.
