January 11, 2008)--Authorities in North Carolina said late Friday morning pregnant Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach is dead.
They said she’s buried in a shallow grave, for which investigators are now searching.
They identified the suspect in the case as a Marine officer whom she accused of sexually assaulting her.
Police earlier were planning to interview a man who lived with her and said he would answer questions that "will shed a lot of light on the case."
Authorities said again Friday Marine Sgt. Daniel Durham isn't a suspect, but police believe he's the last person to speak with the Marine.
She disappeared Dec. 14 ahead of her expected testimony in a military investigation into her claim a senior officer had sexually assaulted her.
Court documents show the investigation went sour amid inconsistencies in the woman's story and allegations that she's bipolar and a compulsive liar.
Search warrants show she was facing a possible discharge from the service.
Lauterbach was eight months pregnant when she disappeared.
Looks like new information to me. I’ll keep checking for the indictment.
Hudson just said on phone interview with Fox News there IS the possibility others will have indictments on them but could not elaborate.
Anyone find out any info on the supposedly BROTHER the truck was registered to under the same name as father on Gum Branch Rd? I keep hitting dead ends there.

Yes, but it was reported somewhere it was listed at a Gum Branch Rd address and speculated it was to a brother. Can’t find the article now.

Financial card theft - He stole her credit card and /or he stole her money on Dec 24 at ATM?

Fraud - Is this when he used the ATM card on Dec. 24 or something else like the letter or bus ticket? It doesn’t say it’s credit card fraud. Is fraud only related to financial issues?

I don’t know. Unless the AP information is a mistake it says the indictment states Laurean forced Maria to remove money from her bank account on Dec. 14. So IF that info is true, I’m guessing that’s the clip. You got me. That’s pretty big news. Anybody know if the indictment information will be released for public viewing?
Wow, I wonder how they know he forced her to withdraw money? And if he did that, what else did he force her to do? Maybe buy the bus ticket to throw everyone off his trail? Maybe write that letter?

And what did he force her with? Or how did he force her? (a gun? then why kill her with a crowbar?)

Thanks for that info. I also checked for Christina’s car, there is NOTHING for Christina Laurean or Christina Sue Smith and no Shifflets....how is her car registered or where?
Checked out her sister/bil’s also, no property on them but these 2 cars registered to BIL

Anyhow - I was pondering that CNN made a big issue (rightfully) that their reporter was the only person to have made contact with the cousin - that no-one from the FBI or Mexican Police had interviewed family members.
It’s possible that LE has been undercover in that home town waiting for the indictment and extradition paperwork. They may very well know where Laurean is - but want to investigate any of those *friends* he was with - perhaps to arrest them as well.
Just speculating.
The black Dodge pickup truck said to belong to Cesar Laurean is actually registered to Salvador Laurean who has listed a Gum Branch Road address on the registration. The Gum Branch address is near Cesar’s house. Salvador Laurean has a phone number in Las Vegas, NV. The phone is answered by a machine stating “you have called the Laureans”. Salvador Laurean’s age is extremely close to Cesar’s. At the press conference I asked Sheriff Ed Brown who Salvador was and he turned to one of his investigators and replied, “I believe it is Cesar’s father.” Well one Salvador may be his father, the other may be his brother and sometimes brothers look a lot alike.

In watching that clip of Maria at ATM - I noticed her putting her finger up to her mouth as if biting it or something. She seemed nervous to me...(her body language)..wondering if he was there. The ATM was a BOA machine next to a pawn shop or in the parking lot of a pawn shop, you could see one when Trace Gallagher did a walk thru of the area on Fox Monday. (need to look for that clip)
In my email to Capt Sutherland Monday, I also pointed out that.....excerpt....”Some others in a group discussion dissecting this case also caught the black truck in the background of Maria at the ATM on the 14th.....could this be Laurean’s, the picture there is too blurry to dissect.”

Another interesting take - the Mexican cousin had not seen Laurean in 10 years - that would be when he was age 11.
Men change a lot from age 11 to 21. Maybe it was Salvador the brother he spoke to - maybe Cesar is somewhere else. More diversionary tactics!!!!
