January 11, 2008)--Authorities in North Carolina said late Friday morning pregnant Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach is dead.
They said she’s buried in a shallow grave, for which investigators are now searching.
They identified the suspect in the case as a Marine officer whom she accused of sexually assaulting her.
Police earlier were planning to interview a man who lived with her and said he would answer questions that "will shed a lot of light on the case."
Authorities said again Friday Marine Sgt. Daniel Durham isn't a suspect, but police believe he's the last person to speak with the Marine.
She disappeared Dec. 14 ahead of her expected testimony in a military investigation into her claim a senior officer had sexually assaulted her.
Court documents show the investigation went sour amid inconsistencies in the woman's story and allegations that she's bipolar and a compulsive liar.
Search warrants show she was facing a possible discharge from the service.
Lauterbach was eight months pregnant when she disappeared.
Hmmm, no paint in this video, wondering if there are more out there showing him buying paint that haven’t come forth.
On Nancy Grace, they just said he had a “friend” with him in the AMW video....but not who that friend is.
Yeah, where’s the paint and shovels? I see a wheelbarrow and a white box or something with the other guy. Ummmm, I think the other guy with him had to tell the authorities about his trip with Cesear. What are the odds that they’d find this one little clip at a certain Lowe’s over a month’s time?
The other guy turned the time/place, etc. that he was there with Cesear. At least that’s my opinion.
I think there will be more of the video when it is shown on AMW....showing the shovels.
If they started checking the tapes at Lowes, hoping to catch him buying paint and shovels, they would start the day she disappeared, the 14th. Hopefully they wouldn’t have to go through that many days to find him in the store.
Just throwing out another theory.

Fugitive Marine May Have Been Spotted in South Texas
The FBI is investigating reports that fugitive Marine Cesar Laurean may have passed through South Texas.
A clerk at a grocery store in Premont reports a man resembling Laurean stopped to buy a Moneygram and ask for direction to Mexico.
Laurean is the key suspect in the murder of another Marine, Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, who was eight months pregnant when she was killed last month in North Carolina.
This is just crazy. I’ve caught up on all the day’s news, but gotta hit the hay. Until tomorrow-

“In other developments in the case:
The Sheriff’s Department continues to call Christina Laurean a “cooperating witness” but will not rule out the possibility she may be charged for some crime related to Lauterbach’s death at some point. However, the Sheriff’s Department maintains they have no plans to charge anyone else in the death.”
That’s the latest in an article about how AMW is doing the show on Laurean.
WITN has a new report, where search warrants have been issued for the cell phones of Laurean, his wife, sister, and mother.
It doesn’t say if it is his or her mother and sister, but the area codes are Las Vegas (Clark County)Nevada and Columbus, Ohio.

CNN is reporting today that the guy who was circled in the AMW video was NOT Laurean but the one who’s face was blurred was Laurean.....NOW that video is no longer available on AMW. Interesting, I watched it over and over last night and to me the one with the wheelbarrow looked like Lauren, not the one in the sweatshirt. OH well....will have to watch it tonight on the BIG tv.
That seems strange that they would say the one that was circled was not Laurean. He’s not so skinny according to his stats. That looked like him IMO.
The AMW link at post #1275 still has the video....BUT they changed the circle to the “other guy”. So the guy in the sweatshirt they’re saying is Laurean. The other guy in the green is the friend now.
Hope the surveillance tape is clearer on AMW so they are sure it’s him!

So, they were both at the bank the same day, and neither were at the party. The 14th was a Friday.
But somethings wrong with this time line AMW.
The Marine Command determined that she was UA on the 14th, but they did not send anyone to her house until the 19th AND they say Durham turned the note over on the 19th when she didn’t show up for work. Had she taken leave? The 19th was the FOLLOWING WEDNESDAY.

Lauterbach reported to work. Her workday ended at noon for a Christmas party, which she did not attend. Sgt. Durham returned to their home and says he finds a note from Lauterbach that expressed her desire to leave the Marine Corps. Sgt. Durham said her car was gone, and some personal items were taken. Marine command determined that Lauterbach had gone U.A. Investigators find that Lauterbach withdrew $700 from a Jacksonville, N.C. ATM, and bought a Greyhound bus ticket to El Paso.
December 19
Lauterbach fails to report to work. Sgt. Durham gives commanders Lauterbach’s note; command sends investigators to her house, and reports that her car and her things were gone. She’s listed as a deserter because of concern over her health.
December 19
Command calls Lauterbach’s mother, who she says she last spoke with her daughter on Dec. 14. Maria’s mother says she doesn’t know where Maria is; her mom files a missing persons report in Ohio. Lauterbach’s cell phone is found along Hwy 24 when a stranded motorist uses the phone to call Lauterbach’s sister. She asked the person to turn the phone in to police.

There are two very good questions raised.
ONE at 36:15 was, basically, why the OIC thought 3 consecutive days with a civilian attorney wasn’t weird.
TWO 38:27 If (regarding December 19) ANYONE HAD gone to Laurean’s house when she was reported missing, they would have found blood all over and a body in the backyard.

Ya know, there had been a rape alleged for upwards of nine freaking months. No point in asking the accused any questions, eh? /sarc
Just noticed that the pic at the ATM machine appears to be the same pic of Laurean w/daughter on his myspace page.
And just because his tattoo doesn’t show at the ATM, he could have covered it with makeup.
