He may have convinced her they were going to be together. Maybe she trusted him & thought she had nothing to lose.

Then there’s the other side of it where he may have used some form of coercion.

They wouldn’t have her pin number at work....they don’t THAT involved in a Marines personal finances.

That’s a good question about how he got it. I am ditsy as all heck. And I just got my new card after not having one for 2 years. That is why I had the red card and now I have the new blue ATM card that I referred to in a previous post. They sent me that little piece of paper with the new code on it and I kept messing up so I cut out the number and (CRINGE) put it in my purse pocket. I wonder if somehow her pin was near her ATM card/ID.

And I only heard it once on Nancy Grace’s show that Laurean bought large amounts of charcoal. Isn’t charcoal a natural odor eliminator?

It's OFFICIAL: Maria was killed with a crowbar, and the baby was a GIRL.

Maybe I’m reading the headline wrong. OFFICIAL could mean a person, because it doesn’t jive with the article exactly.

You’re right. The word OFFICIAL doesn’t jive. They have the suspected weapon, it’s been sent to the lab, and it’s consistent with the wound that killed Maria. LOL. This article says the authorities won’t confirm it’s a crowbar, then it says, “the crowbar has been sent”...

I know....they need to fix the headline. But it does look like the baby was a girl. Notice that the article says baby and not fetus. *shock*

I think they meant a person from the way I’m reading it.

Yes, the baby was a girl. The initial autopsy that they refer to also says she was 8 months pregnant. If that's the case, then she would have become pregnant in mid April, right at the time she indicated there was a second assault. Reports say the first encounter was March 26, with the second encounter two to several weeks later.

If the autopsy of the baby says 8 months, it backs up her claims. How could the first pregnancy test on May 11th miss that she was pregnant?

Sometimes, not always, you can get a negative-positive. Guess it depends on the hormone levels.

You’re right. Doing a little reading, it’s more common to get a false-negative vs. a false-positive. Also if her advocate took her in the middle of the day for her checkup, this would not be nearly as accurate as checking first thing in the morning (right out of bed).

From FOXnews

"Surveillance videos obtained by "America's Most Wanted" show the suspected killer of a pregnant Marine using the victim's ATM card and buying paint and shovels believed to have been employed in an effort to conceal the crime, FOX News has learned.

Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean, 21, is seen covering up a bank security camera with a towel or a rag while he uses the ATM card of 20-year-old Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach on Dec. 24.

He was also caught on tape buying paint and shovels at a Lowe's store in Jacksonville, N.C."....

..."A witness in the murder of Lauterbach turned the instrument over to police, who would not confirm local media reports that it was a crowbar.

"It was a person who had this item in their possession and did not realize its significance," Capt. Rick Sutherland of the Onslow County Sheriff's Office told FOX News on Thursday. "We have no reason to believe that they were involved in the homicide at all. ... We believe this item is consistent with the findings of the medical examiner.""...

WOW!!
There is still a 10 day gap between when Marie went missing and he buys all this stuff.

When somebody lies, there is usually a little bit of truth to the lie. Maybe she WAS buried in the woods and then brought back to the home to be burned. :(

The Fox news article doesn’t say what date the paint and shovels were bought at Lowes. I thought it was also interesting that the suspected crowbar weapon was turned in by someone who didn’t realize what they had until they saw the story about Maria’s death. IOW, one of the Laurean’s gave/loaned the crowbar to someone else instead of throwing it away. How stupid is that?

So he used her card at least 2 times in 2 different places?

But why buy a shovel to bury her the second time if you used a shovel to bury her the first time?

Something is wierd here... like maybe the burning was to throw off time of death.

OK, so I can see how the date of the paint purchases would be a good indicator of about the time Marie was killed (like JUST BEFORE!)

As far as giving away the crowbar, stupid, but maybe hopeful that it would get lost in the shuffle of borrowed tools etc.

I thought that he borrowed a shovel from a neighbor? Maybe he didn't want to ask to borrow it again lest the neighbor think something weird (which it was) going on?

This story is getting more and more bizarre.
