Yes, she's a girl with problems. Yes, Britney's messed up her career, her marriage, motherhood, etc. But when Dr. Phil McGraw showed up at her hospital to help her "get real" with her "issues" - supposedly with her family's blessing - there's one thing that happened to Britney Spears that took the meaning of "wrongness" to a whole new level.
"He's crossed the line," mental health pros wailed after he appeared before Britney (reportedly on the invitation Lynne Spears, Brit's mom) and then turned the private meeting into very public plea to "treat" the troubled star on a special Dr. Phil show.
"He's betrayed our trust." "Any statement publicly that he made, because he was brought in under this cloak of trust," says Brit's mom, "(is) just inappropriate."

Yes, I suppose using this girl's current madness to build a ratings juggernaut might seem a little iffy.
Yesterday, the media debated Dr. Phil's retorts in which he slammed critics for painting him as the bad guy in all this. He's not like all those other people around Britney who have used her badly. "Get real!" That's what Dr. Phil fired back.

How can it possibly benefit Britney, particulary in her "intense" mental state as Dr. Phil described it, to haul her designer-clad bod onto his stage and dissect her woeful life apart for our amusement. Who is that helping? Her or his show's ratings? ...I don't know what is sadder here? This new slide in Britney's fall from grace, or Dr. Phil's dumber-than-dumb move?
Lynne Taylor may not be winning any prize's for her mothering skills these days. But how can you not agree with her or her family? Dr. Phil should have kept this very big, very bad idea to himself and kept mum about Britney's mess.

IN total I have seen/heard Phil for about 2 minutes (too long)...enough to tell me you are right in your characterization of him.
I forgot to include one of the biggest phonies and poseurs in the world also.
