I love pelicans. Several years back, I was floating on an inflatable raft off the coast of Jekyll Island, GA. Eyes closed, enjoying the sun, barely awake. At one point, even with my eyes closed, I noticed that several unknown somethings were passing over me, casting shadows. I opened my eyes just in time to see the first of six or seven pelicans dive-bombing a school of shrimp into which I had drifted. The birds completely ignored me, just kept diving after shrimp. The closest came within six feet of me.

Kinda scary, but incredibly cool.
