Description of book:
At its heart, this book is a comforting companion and helpful counselor for average Christians interacting with the law, perhaps feeling bewildered, overwhelmed, or uneasy about how their legal situations align with their Christian morals and beliefs. The book is comprehensive in scope, but written in a friendly, conversational tone. The legal topics addressed are carefully selected to cover those most likely to be encountered by regular folks in the course of their everyday lives. By presenting a practical Christian perspective informed by God's rich array of relevant scriptural wisdom, this book will release multitudes of Christian believers from the tangled web of moral confusion and ethical compromise so often promoted and exacerbated by lawyers and the legal establishment. Readers will be enlightened, encouraged in their faith, and empowered in their ability to make sound decisions to honor that faith, even in the high-stakes, pressure-filled secular legal arena.

Thanks for your generous offer to share your wisdom!
After all these years of FReeping, the the depth of knowledge and experience around here still amazes me.
Can you name all eight of your titles? (from memory)
Wow, the book is already bringing peace and reconciliation! Awesome!
Is the book available now?
It's available for pre-order, with an April 1 release date. You can see all the info at my website (the source link at the top of the thread) IsThereALawyerInTheChurch.com
Thanks!
Hah! Actually, I can. Every one of them has the word “Beer” in the title, which makes it easier for me to remember.
Go to Amazon and put “Skilnik” in their search box. You’ll see a couple of them. Don’t be put-off by the subject. Non-fiction, especially informative non-fiction (like yours), is the best route for selling books, as far as I’m concerned.
I've searched the Scriptures and can't find anything that prohibits a Christian who is legally of age from enjoying an occasional beer or a glass of wine. Unless it leads to drunkenness or causes another person to stumble, I'm fine with it. Plus, as a kid in the 1970's I used to collect beer cans as a hobby - still have most of 'em in the garage!
It’s on order - thanks!
Thank you Light Light for the info.
I couldn’t find it yet in Amazon.com.
Where are you selling it?

Thank you, Cindy. He already has! And the adventure is only beginning!
It should be a great adventure.
I've been experiencing the reality of Psalm 37:4...
Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
I don't know what the Lord has in store next, but this faith journey has been amazing so far.
Wow - Thank you, Brother!!!
Yes, I’d be lying if I said writing the book wasn’t a huge amount of work, but it’s been good work, if you know what I mean? Satisfying, meaningful work.
Why, you’re quite welcome, the least I can do for another writer. [Bumps thread]
In best cross examination voice: And what, Mr. Silverback, do you write?
Congratulations! I look forward to reading the book. For over 30 years now I have had to choose between what The Church teaches and what the Law or my clients allow or want. In the end though, as I have gotten older, I have found that its easier to do the right thing.
I am reminded of a comment made to me some years back at a Red Mass luncheon. A chief judge of one of the circuits was the speaker. He is a close friend of Justice Scalia. Once he asked Scalia, J what he was to do when presented with an abortion case, follow what The Church teaches or Rowe v. Wade. Scalia allegedly said that he had no choice at all...he had to resign. That’s stuck with me all these years. Scalia, of course, is right.
Amen to that, Brother. I hope you find my book encouraging. It's written for lay-persons rather than lawyers, so it's not scholarly in tone. But yet I hope lawyers will find it engaging and inspiring as well.
We’ve got two relatively new lawyers in the office, my son and my partner’s son. I think I’ll get it for them. They don’t count as “real” lawyers...yet! I am sure, however, that I will enjoy it myself.
Perfect plan!
