“Sleeping eight hours from midnight to 8 AM is less effective than sleeping six hours from 10 PM to 4 AM.”
Do you have a source for this?

My Chinese herbal Doc, and Chinese girlfriend keep claiming this also.
I lost 40 pounds in 4 months, now 6’2”, 190, by changing the way I eat completely. But I guess I’m doin’ it wrong! I stopped going to the local restaurant for breakfast. Now I have a piece of fruit, one piece of toast, and my obligatory 24 oz of java. I have a small sandwich for lunch maybe 3 times a week, or just a piece of fruit. Stirfry for dinner. Usually rather late. I am going to bed earlier, and sleeping better. AND, I no longer have to take my daily dose of Prevacid! Cut out beef. Too hard to digest. If I had cut out my beer intake, I wouldn’t weigh anything at all!
I’ve always heard that each hour of sleep before midnight is worth two hours of sleep after midnight, and, by the way I feel, it’s probably true. The earlier you go to bed, the more refreshed you feel in the morning, and better able to face exercise.
I’ve always done better with losing weight when I get enough sleep so that I have more strength to resist temptation and make good choices.
I don't have a link to a source, but I remember reading something about this in a medical journal a few years ago. It does match my own personal experience, too.
