We bought a nice hot water making pot in Japan. Holds 2 liters and have 4 temperature settings and pumps it out at the touch of a button. Very nice at home. At work we have hot water dispensing valves on the side of some of the coffee makers so that is ok.
I have some metal ones but they are mostly so tall I am more likely to spill them. My best one is the one that is TOO good. With the lid on it can sit for 12 hours and still burn the **** out of you when you take a sip. With the lid off it still takes hours and hours to cool to drinkable. If you don’t put it in at drinkable temp then you will never get a burn free drink.
I need one of those cone shaped ones that has a nice wide base and is double walled for use at work.

Wonder if they make coffee cups that look like lava lamps...

I’ve always wondered if those wide based ones would be tricky to clean, though. One of my pet peeves. Another reason I like my cup is that it has no moving parts to get gunked up - just a lid that screws on, with a hole to slip through. No sliding bit, no flip top, no nothing. Yeah, it pours out if you tip it upside down, but I don’t think most of the ones that seal are completely leak-proof either.

The wide ones also don’t fit in a cup holder.
