Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
I posted some info about Iraqi Indigo here when it first came out. I do have some, and it’s kind of nice...but not really as practical as a blue, of course.
I thought you had! I kept thinking it was familiar and I think it was when I got to thinkin’ I’d like a fountain pen some day...
It’s not really purple, though, eh?
You know, you should post pictures of some of your work with inks.
One of my “by the end of the year” goals is to have an art studio set up in the garage where I can get back to calligraphy and painting.
I’m reading all I can about fountain pens now...
Heh!
and so it begins...
Does the doc have you on a diuretic, as well? That might help keep the puffiness down.
He put me on one but then had to take me off of it because it’s a sulfa drug. I am allergic to sulfa. Come to find out they almost all are...he says there’s one that isn’t but seems loathe to put me on it. I don’t know why.
It’s an odd ink...I go back and forth with it as far as if I like it or not. When it goes down on the paper, it looks like a sort of milky blue-purple - almost a little washed out looking. But when I go back through old journals and notebooks where I’ve used it, the color sets in time to a nice vivid indigo - with maybe just a touch more purple to it than a true indigo would have. I wouldn’t quite call it a true purple. Not enough red. I don’t really have a real purple...which is why I want some. ;-) The closest I had was a nice burgundy, but that ink ended up with mold and I had to throw it out. :-\ Apparently that particular mix was prone to it.
Way more info than you wanted, I’m sure...
I’ve played a bit with mixing colors, too, but with *mixed* success. Heheh... Black and red make a nice brown, and a lot of fun things can be done with blues and greens. I’ve not had as much luck making a good purple, though.
Yeah...well...most of my pens are just the writing sort - no fancy nibs or anything. And I just use them for my journal and for writing and general scribbling. Nothing terribly interesting.
For calligraphy, I have a dip pen and some india ink. I’m not very good with them, though. One of these days...
No no no! I'm obsessing on it right now!
In lieu of diuretics, did he put you on a salt or liquid restriction? Or maybe he thinks the excess fluid isn’t a factor, anyway.
Told me to stay away from salty foods, and only drink when I’m thirsty, but no real fluid restrictions.
The garlic bread last night mighta got me.
I’m 116/80 which is as good as you can get I guess, being on four different bp meds.
I was talking to a retired doctor at the dinner last night and when I told him what I was on he just gasped! He said that was more medicine than most big men take.
Yikes! That don't sound too good.
I think so...maybe I should make sure!
What? You, obsessing? ;-)
So on the rare hope that one day my luck would change, I never thought it would be today. And I never thought this would be the result.
I won two tickets to “Night with the Drivers” tomorrow night at Richmond International Raceway.
Problem is:
1) I can’t go, and
2) I wouldn’t know who they were if I went.
I gave ‘em to a coworker who is delighted.
But dangit, I entered the contest for the Eagles tickets...
Ok, next time you pray to “win the contest” you might want to be a little more specific ;-)
Pit-ee-ful.
I didn’t think praying to win the contest would be very successful if you didn’t enter the contest...
