The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Heh...I love that kind of stuff.

There’s a store downtown that sells all kinds of antiquey things, including magazines and old advertisements, most for just a few bucks or so. They actually have a section of their advertisement bin just for typewriters and fountain pens. I think it’d be cool to buy some of those eventually and put them up in my office room.

I’m so excited! I’m tempted to jump up and go antique shopping...’cept Steve took the car so I can’t drive. And jumping up isn’t a good idea either.

Yesterday when I took Matthew to Latin I went to merge onto a highway and it wasn’t really a merge...there was a whole lane I could enter the highway on to but there I sat, in the middle of the road, waiting for the traffic to thin enough to merge on. Sat there for a while till someone behind me honked at me.

Oops.

Lack of oxygen to one’s brain, you know...heh.

96/68 at last check. Doctor’s supposed to call me and tell me what to do. I feel ok...just woozy. Not afraid of having a stroke anymore though.

My normal blood pressure is (or always used to be) in the 90s/60s. Can I blame my frequently bubbleheadedness on that? Heh...

Hope they’re able to get you into a good-for-you range soon.

You just sit right there. Hair can pick up ice cream for the rest of us after she ships my salmon.

Yesterday afternoon...after the highway mishap...I came home and checked it...84/60.

I laid down on the floor and put my feet up. It came back up pretty quick.

But like I say...I’d rather be hypotensive then hypertensive.

If you need your blood pressure to go up, just watch the election news.

Ice cream sounds soooo good! We have a local dairy that makes it. It’s in the middle of the cornfield that is right across the road from the cornfield with the elementary school in it. :D

So did they start growing corn around these buildings, after they were built, or did they decide that they really didn’t need THAT much corn, so they could plop a building down in the field?

both. The fields grew up around the dariy, and the other field sprouted a school. It’s all very humorous.

I was just wishin’ I had an old fountain pen...

Do you want a new one, or a used one?

An old one...new old stock or used, either one. I think Rosie’s got one in mind for me. I’m very excited.

I just got in from my dinner...whoa! I had no idea it was going to be like it was! They had real good food and lots of it and then they played some videos from the President and such, thanking the volunteers for their service, then they called the names of the folks that volunteered during the December Ice Storm and I got a certificate of commendation with my name on it and my picture taken! I also got an MRC cap and a couple of pins to put on it, one of the State of Oklahoma with MRC on it and another with the seal of the State.

The pin in the shape of Oklahoma was for working the Mass Immunization drill...where I gave flu shots one right after another practicing for a biological attack.

It was all a bit overwhelming...I had no idea they would even know who I was much less call out my name like they did!

Steve and the boys are practicing driving in the parking lot at the CDTS.
