Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Heh...in his case, I’m picturing something more along the lines of a seething, rolling, motion-sickness-inducing mass of typewriters, complete with blurred keys and distorted clickity-clacking sounds, marching toward you through a sea of jerking cartoon ink ribbons.
I *hate* rotoscoping, if’n you can’t tell...
Ha! Well, I guess it takes all kinds, huh? ;o)
I was just wishin’ I had an old fountain pen...
Where would be a good place to start looking? I’d like one that you fill, not a cartridge.
Rosie's house.
Heh heh!
I liked the article about the typewriters. I agree. Things from the past that deserve to be remembered. I like that.
I remember sitting on my grandmother’s chrome and blue Formica kitchen table eating slices of butter while she made cinnamon rolls on a tea towel. I was probably 4-5 years old.
Been lookin’ for one of those tables for years.
Ours was yellow. I’d love to have another table like that as well.
What Corin said, seriously. I have a couple I don’t use much, for one reason or another (mostly because they’re smaller than the one I like best). I’d be happy to send you one you can keep, just so you see if you like ‘em enough for it to be worth the extra trouble!
I’ve got one that’s newer and can use either a cartridge or a converter, and one that only uses bottle ink. It has a lever type filler, and a rubber ink sac inside it - I could explain better with the pen in front of me.
Let me know if you’d be interested! I could also send some ink...I have quite a few different colors...
Heh...I like it.
I really wasn’t tryin’ to give away yer stuff...
Oh, I know. ;-) But I do have extras...and they should be used!
Oh that would be wonderful, if you’re in the givin’ mood! I could pay for postage...
The one with the rubber ink sac intrigues me...what’s it called and I’ll run a google on it and see how it works...
Here’s a rundown, albeit one that’s more complex than you really need:

See the part about lever fillers?
I think the pen I’m thinking of is an Esterbrook. It’s nothing fancy - would have been a school pen in its day, really, and it’s not in collector’s shape...but it’d be something to try!
I have to check and make sure it’s still working OK and all that, though. I have a few pens I like a lot and use all the time, and the others have just been sitting. :-\
Sounds good...look it over and see what you think and do what you think is best. I’m so EXCITED! I’ve been thinking about this for a long time.
Been reading this...

The newest guy on the work team I’m on (out of three of us) uses fountain pens. He likes them and I think he’s got one of those cartridge ones.
Me, I just like felt tips, or those ones that aren’t ballpoint but I don’t know what they are.
Hm...if you’re thinkin’ you might want to use it for nursing notes, I should send you some Noodler’s Legal Lapis. It’s a nice sort of blue-grey with just a bit of green to it, and it’s completely permanent, unlike most fountain pen inks. I have a big bottle, so I could put some into a smaller bottle to mail.
I was thinking after seeing this picture, "I'm gonna need a manicure."
