Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Oh my. Likes!
Travel safe!
Heh.... that’s hilarious.
I look forward to reading your blog when you get back!
This was inside the fence around the new seed, and our cats were inside, so it wasn't any of the house pets. The ferals will get a nice special treat tonight.
This may be the major culprit in the paddock molehills. We've seen several baby ones killed, but none this big. :~)
Dang, that’s a big mole!
On the agenda for today:
1. Go to “my” coffee house for the first time in a lonnnng while. I’m craving one of their lattes and a pastry, and it’s been forever since I just sat down with a book.
2. Pick up my new license plates - woo-hoo!
3. Get groceries (I may make pizza tomorrow).
4. Drop off books at the library.
5. Go to that monthly jam south of here, though I’ve barely touched the guitar since last time, what with the car shopping and work stuff. :-\ Oh well.
Our agenda for today:
1. Go down to Bob’s and feed his critters.
2. Pick up our horse trailer from the shop.
3. Back it into the driveway to prep it for a good wash and re-stocking it with all our stuff.
4. Jack up trailer and take slow-leaking tire to tire shop.
5. Go get hay.
6. Go down and feed Bob’s critters again.
Yours sounds more productive than mine. ;-)
I do want to figure out a way to shelter my mower, too, but that will likely have to wait for tomorrow. I’m thinking I need to rig something in some other place, rather than that end of the house, since it seems to catch the worst of the wind. :-\ I’m thinking maybe even on the concrete in back, somewhere and somehow.
I also never did figure out how to fold down the handle. Hence why it’s sitting in a lump on my front walk. I did notice there’s a Honda mower place over in Lacey, and I’m thinking I maybe should take it there instead of the John Deere place.
Out to run errands!
Snow. I haz it.
Yaaaay, cat!
Indeed it was a lovely moot! Thenads are wonderful hosts and it was great to see them again. Thekids have grown so much since the first time I met them back at EntMoot.
We had a nice safe drive back and are glad to have the weekend at home to recover.
Yup, us too. It's a weird, kind of ~hard~ snow. So, I went and put suet out for the woodies, and unsalted, unshelled peanuts for the bluejays and here come the grackles and starling, da@n birds. I really am considering the "stop feeding the birds" option.
And on the subject of birds, I was driving north to the health food store in Independence and pass by a fairly new "old folks" home. What are circling overhead but six turkey vultures, wth! Gave me a start, I'll tell you that.
The weather this past couple of days has not been great, we’re glad to see you made it home safely. How was thebother’s graduation, was it held indoors or out?
we do too... and 20-25 mph winds... took theboy out turkey huntin' this mornin', its dah ute season...
didn't hear or see nothin'... theweathers s'posed tuh be just as lousy tomorrow... oh well... there's always the reg'lar season...
Jen, thanks for the kind werds... y'all are welcome antime on theRidge...
Well that's pretty harsh! Had some sleet and freezing rain for a few minutes too. Now the sun's trying to come out. Hope my seedlings survive.
1. Did about an hours worth of painting at our church
2. Helped a friend who has a vey large strawberry patch cover it all up in prep for the freeze.
3. In process of cleaning desk...Ach!
Hair, the girl fell off her horse during a riding lesson last week. They came to a log that the horse normally steps over, not this time. The trainer said it looked like he was jumping a ten foot fence. She made the mistake of hanging onto the reigns, and the horse stepped on her leg. She’s fine, just a bruise...good thing the ground is wet.
Baseball/Softball season has started. All the kids are signed up to play...and so it begins.
Mrsnad
Oh - dang I bet that hurt. It can be really surprising if they jump when you aren’t expecting it. Especially if they do one of those big deer leaps.
Hope it didn’t scare her too bad.
Well, weather seems to have settled down. We got a bit of non-sticking snow that was mostly rain. The dafodils are up and look great for the time being. Lost a lot of buds off the chanticlar pear.
Mrsnad, glad to hear thegirl wasn’t hurt too bad. That was a close call. Hope she was wearing her helmet.
G’nad - how’s the newtractor? Tell theboy good luck on getting his turkey. hmmm. turkey..
