The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

You hate change? You must be a typical white person.

I could do without the green.

Just letting everyone know... our friend Froginablender, from the saddle club thread, and sometimes from the Hobbit Hole as well, lost her mom over the weekend. Here's her post from the Saddle club thread:

Good Morning, and thanks for all the prayers for my Mom and me. She began having trouble with low blood pressure and falling around this time last year and had moved into a retirement community last May. She had also been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. It was where she needed to be and she knew it, even though she wasn’t real happy about having to leave her home. It was a very nice place where she had her own private room with her own furniture and they took real good care of her, but she had a massive stroke on Saturday around lunchtime and never really regained consciousness. She always said that she’d rather die than slowly loose herself to Alzheimer’s like she’d seen so many others do, so I’m glad that God heard her prayer and took her before then, even though it was real hard to loose her so quickly. My sister and I were with her when she breathed her last and I was glad for that too. She had missed my Dad so much in the years since he passed and the added loss of her independence was almost more than she could bear so I’m glad that she’s free of that now and is with God and Daddy and all the others that she loved. I imagine they’re having quite the party in Heaven right now!

I’ve never had to deal with funeral arrangements before and all the other legal stuff that comes with the death of a loved one so I’m sure I’m in for a rude awakening. She had pre-arranged for all of her funeral expenses so that was was a breeze, but trying to pick out her clothes was really the hard part. She was always very particular about her appearance and since she worked most of her life as a sales lady in a dress shop she was very well dressed, but I think I picked out something that she would have liked. The funeral will be tomorrow so I’m going to try to get some other stuff taken care of today. I’ll check in when I can. Thanks again for all the kind thoughts!

Beth.

Some of the change I don’t mind, but as I mentioned, I like seeing to whom it was I responded when I’m looking at the ping.

Ha! I hadn’t logged on the Comments page before I mentioned the pings. They’re back to where they were, but I’m like you; not sure I like the green. It’s kinda bright. Maybe a nice blue? GAK we’re picky, aren’t we?

Greens are good for ya!

....and one thing about greens and possum innards: they’re just as good the second day.

D’OH! I see what they’re doing now, and I like it. Someone posting to me is in blue, and my posts to others are in green!

I have a couple of rubberized ones. A rubber block to hold the butt, and a rubber cradle to clamp the foreend with a rubber strap. Generic mounting bolts. I can post a picture if you're interested. They didn't cost me anything, so that's what your cost would be.

Have you seen this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqOLjEli6yY
Someone found the actual holster the TSA forces pilots to use and posted a demo of how that pilot probably had the discharge the other week. The stupidity of the TA knows no bounds.

Nice. One of those toys I wish I had enough land to need.

Do try to stay on the correct side of this one, eh?

This is a Dutch vehicle mount for an M1 carbine. The one still in the plastic bag even has a NATO NSN for it.

It's all rubber, except for a metal backing plate that screws or bolts to something. It looks like it was intended to hold a weapon vertically. You'd probably have to grind out a bit more space in the bottom mount for the rifle butt.
