Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Talk about bizarre. I'm not sure whether to believe them or not. But it was awfully surreal to wake up this morning to my radio giving out school closure and late start info.
I thought maybe I'd accidently slipped back in time again. I hate it when that happens.
Here’s the NWS statement:
Statement as of 4:43 AM PDT on March 27, 2008
... Light snow accumulations possible on the hills of western
Washington... particularly on Friday and Friday night...
A quick one-half to one inch of snow is possible today and this
evening on hilltops above 500 feet as random Showers Pass across
western Washington.
A low pressure system will move to near the coast on Friday
morning... bringing heavier and more widespread precipitation to
western Washington.
Over Clallam and Jefferson counties... 1 to 3 inches of snow could
occur late tonight and Friday morning away from the water and
above about 300 feet of elevation. This applies to both the
eastern and western portions of these counties.
Along the I-5 corridor through western Washington on Friday... wet
snow will mix with rain on higher hilltops... where localized
accumulations of one or two inches are possible. On Friday
night... a Puget Sound convergence zone could then develop over
Snohomish or northern King County. This would bring the potential
of 1 or 2 additional inches of snow for hilltops in the Metro area
and in the Cascade foothills.
The forecast for Friday and Friday night is largely based on a
weather system that had not yet developed as of early Thursday
morning... so details are subject to change. Check back later today
for the latest weather updates from the National Weather Service.
Well, we actually may not get much snow, but we’re right at the edge of the area that will... Much of Western Oregon will, and the SW corner of WA up to Chehalis has a snow advisory... so what’s 15 miles to a weather system? :~)
It stopped but there was a good two hours of serious snow here. Too warm so it doesn’t seem to have stuck much but that was very odd to see.
I think you can dig them up once the leaves have died back for the year. But don't quote me on that.
As far as whether to dig them or not - why not take a sample and see what they look like. Have they been gnawed on? Do they look puny and malnourished? That would save you from digging the whole bed if you didn't need to.
Evening Corin et al. well, tulips do tend to draw themselves down so they may be late coming up or just too deep. LF had a good idea of a sample to see what’s going on. On a general note, the tulips just don’t seem to be as hardy these days as they once were. ymmv
The daffodils appear multiply rapidly but decline in vigor when the clumps get too big, they probably need to be dug up and split/separated. once again ymmv
So yu’ve been a slipping back in time too, eh brother? Yu’ve gotta remember your center..
Thanks. I think a sample might be the right thing to do. They should be about ready when I get back from New Orleans.
;)
I prefer master gardener.
A very hobbity aspiration.
Really? I killed the thread?
You kilt it good. It may take Caturday to revive it.
Yay! Friday!
We thought it would never get here.
We have an inch of snow today.
Ick. Hopefully that will be all you get.
Yeah, I understand. It’s only 64 here right now...
Fortunately for you I’m in a good mood and the snow was really pretty. The sky is that pale but vibrant cloudless blue and the snow is light and just enough to make everything look nice.
