The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Heh, I watched the guy freaking out at the printer (and then the copier) and all I could think was, "WHY does it say paper jam, when there IS no paper jam!" ("Office Space" ref)

Meanwhile, it's a sad day.

We saw BOTH the Jules Verne, AND the ISS go right over us tonight! The Verne went by first, and was not really that bright, but we saw it for about two minutes before it faded out. We waited a few minutes, then the ISS came over and it was so bright! It also stayed in sight for a couple of minutes. SirKit checked when we came back in, and we saw that it was the Verne that had come by first. That’s why it wasn’t quite as bright at the ISS.

That picture could be inspiration for a sitcom. Squirrel turns the table and goes all Caddyshack on hapless white suburban man (you know, the "typical", white, knuckledragger you see in all the commercials these days). Squirrel makes friends with the MC's kids and helps them cope with teenage angst, squirrel thinks MC's wife is a hottie and makes all sorts of double entendre comments. The MC's liberal friend gets along great with the critter and they team up to ridicule hapless MC.

teehee.

I looked at the site, but I can’t figure out how to read it well enough to know when or where to look. There was a pass over Richmond last night.

We watched that on the way out the door this morning. It was funny and scary. Glad my office isn’t that bad.

You know, those Bailey’s Mini’s are just the right size to pack in a bag lunch.

I am soooo tempted.

Good one!

I think this is why my kids have never been bullied. I’ve always given them the impression (not as blatantly as this graphic but really, along the same lines) that if anyone assaults them, they are not out for a fight...they’re out to kill them and they need to be prepared to kill them first.

The only “bully” Matthew has ever encountered is his best friend at church. The kid had a rep as a bully in elementary school but Matthew said he was verbally picking on him once and he gave him “The Stink Eye”. It’s an extremely hostile glare that basically says “I’m going to snatch your testicles out through your nose and tuck them in your shirt pocket.” Kid never harrassed him again.

This was maybe three years ago. During the December ice storm, when our trees were just hanging in shreds, this kid and his dad came by with a chain saw and helped Steve and Matthew clean up. I donated $50 to Southern Baptist Disaster Relief in their honor. So it all worked out.

Of course, another reason no bully has ever picked on my kids might be because everyone in the neighborhood witnessed me chasing a dog down the street with a large butcher knife.

My friends and I used to eat raisins soaked overnight in whiskey when we were in high school.

We got away with it easily.

~grin~

Well, I just took my bp med...the Big Chill will start in about 2 hours.

Hey, Matthew and I sold candy at Walmart again...he sold another three boxes! We have three more left and have scheduled to be at Walmart this afternoon. If he sells these three...that’s nine boxes total.

The boxes were worth $40 each and he made $139.15 (including donations.)
