The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Thanks!

It helps to have a photogenic subject. ;-)

It’s purty...

I’m still sitting here early on a Sunday afternoon with laundry going, Tam demanding emphatically that fetch should be played, and nothing more exciting than work in my near future. ;-)

What else is it you think people do on Sunday afternoons? :~) Sounds like a full day to me. OK - our mail boxes got taken out last night... how's that for exciting? ;~)

We just got back from town... just having a bite here then we're going to go see if the guys that are fixing it need help. Our mailbox looked OK, didn't notice yours...

Oh dear...I hadn’t seen that! I haven’t been to church yet. Going to the last chance deal.

I think I heard the mailbox thing! I woke up at two in the morning and heard someone spinning and spinning their tires...probably the actual crash woke me. Wonder if they hit the mailboxes and then went into the ditch there and couldn’t get out for awhile. I finally heard them drive off. Honestly, my main thought was just that I hoped they wouldn’t come here in hopes of using a phone or something... And then I forgot about it until now.

I don’t like that word, though!

Oh well. As things to collect go...old typewriters are at least among the cheaper things to be hooked on. Unless you get professionally restored or refurbished ones, most don’t go above about twenty bucks or so, especially in a local sale. So there’s that.

I still want to get rid of some of ‘em, though. Maybe I’ll hold on to them until near November and see if any of the NaNo folks express interest. Ya never know.

Well, there was quite a crowd of guys standing around the mailboxes... so our help wasn’t really needed. Got to meet the lady on the corner though. :~)

Your mailbox looked OK.

As OK as it’s ever been, in any case. ;-) It leaks sometimes...

Didja see any signs that someone got stuck in the ditch for awhile?

Well, there were tracks leading down into the ditch...

Did you get up to look? Or just listen from bed?

I wasn’t *quite* awake enough to get up and look out the window...just enough to be annoyed at the revving. ;-)

Well, next time if you’re curious you’re going to have to get up. :~)

I go check out every noise I hear. But I didn’t hear this one.

Oh, yeah, more green and blue! Maybe some solid colors to match that lovely purple and teal variegated yarn!

Cool old typewriter! I'll stick with my PC and ergonomic keyboard, thank you. ;o)
