The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

We’ve heard a lot on the news about the big storms out on the coast. Sorry to hear they came that far north. A stiff drink of bourbon does have medicinal properties. :-)

Yeah. :-\ I’m thinking I’m not venturing out for a bit, though I usually go to the coffee place Saturday mornings.

The Sierras got ~slammed~ with snow and blizzard conditions. We got it as rain. It was a huge system, but I can’t find a decent picture of it now.

It really did look like a hurricane, too - very tightly organized in the middle.

We could still get high gusts till late morning they say... dunno.

It’s going to be a rather wet weekend anyhow.

Gusts I can deal with, I think, since they’re not any stronger than we were getting when I drove home last night. But the icy stuff scares me...

But maybe it’s stopping. Don’t hear that hiss now.

Here we get melting. All the snow is going to leave us.

Yep. Warm enough to shovel leaves....I think they’re too wet to rake.

Heh, you are correct about that. Still got some ice on the driveway. Thecity finally put enough sand on the ice on the street that we could have beach volleyball out there now.

We saw the reports, glad you all made out okay (and had bourbon). They said it’s eventually going to get here, maybe with some rain later in the week.

I’m glad my driveway faces south. There were only a few ice patches on it when I got back from the airport Tuesday night. It’s a bit boggy out there right now. I’ve been doing some indoor plant gardening. It’s so nice out I thought I’d wash the exterior sunroom walls. I also need to wash the car sometime this weekend.

Well, it felt like spring today - 61 degrees. Should be a repeat performance tomorrow.

Can’t say as we’ve ever seen a cat get a drink like that one.

The 10 day forecast is saying we may be up to the high 50’s by next Thursday! That will certainly feel good, even if it does come with rain. That will wash away a lot of the chunks of snow that we didn’t bother trying to scrape off the driveway.

In Ohio, when the snow melted in the spring, it went in he storm gutters and flooded, leaving us with a mess to clean up.

We’ll get that this coming week. There are low spots in several towns that ALWAYS flood when the snow melts. Then, it will get cold again, snow again, and the next thaw will do the same thing.
