Oh I don’t think you are kidding ;-D

Yeah, every time I got some in the bank saved I would end up using it to pay down the card or something. I keep it safe by putting it in the hardest account for us to get into. The others it is just too easy to tranfer it out of and blow it.

It’s an idea...probably worth looking into.

The trouble is that housing costs are really high here. A decent small house costs at *least* $125k, and most of the ones in that price range are manufactured style, which I’m not sure I trust. Most regular houses are closer to $200k. Or more. Even if I got financing for a house, I’d have trouble making payments. :-\ At this point, I really shouldn’t be getting into anything that involves payments over about $700 or $750, which is very limiting, even where just renting is involved.

But maybe. I dunno.

I need to switch banks at some point...and then start a savings account. I don’t like my current bank, but it’s such a hassle to switch that I’ve stalled for two years!

Just put the catalogue number in the Search box; it should come up.

Right...that’s why I posted it instead of trying to put the link in my post. ;-) I woulda linked you to the page to show what I was talking about, but that doesn’t work since they use a session ID. It would have given you an error when you clicked on it.

SirKit did ours online last year, and plans to do the same this year. He’s also working on the FAFSA (financial aid) for Clare and Joseph for next year.

I just tried it. I put 8999 in the Search box, and the item came up. I clicked the Add button and it went right into the shopping cart.

That site is dangerous for me. There are just way too many things I like. ;o)

Right...searching works. And once the item has been found, you can do whatever you want with it in that session without a problem - add it to a cart, or whatever. I just seem to recall from a past attempt that posting the actual item *page* linked to a page in my own session, and therefore didn't work for others, at least not after the session timed out. But here's an attempt.

Like this: Click here

I have a feeling if we check back on that link in an hour or so, it'll no longer work, because the session ID will have timed out. Hence my just posting the number.

Not that it matters. I just don't like posting links that don't work. But yeah. They have a lot of stuff that I'd like to have!

Oh, OK, I misunderstood what you meant to do! I’m not a big fan of sourdough bread. I picked up a loaf of Ciabatta Onion Garlic bread as the local organic food store yesterday. It was vey tasty!

Take a look, and remember that manufactured has gotten way better later! Our house was about 100k and our mortgage is very very reasonable. Like Talon said, not much more than apartment rent. $750 might just be enough... at least look at your options.

750 is more than we pay on our house. I put nothing down when I bought it.

Manufactured homes are pretty solid. I would not mistrust them too much. At least as well made as most apartments and they er.... well lets just say the compare favorably stacked against the construction of your current place.
My house they originally were asking for 110 and I offered less. Got it for 101.

Heh heh...love reading about that kid calling the superintendent concerning the snow day. I think it’s funny!

I had a teacher try to give me pops (three whacks with a board) for loosing my place during a reading assignment in high school once. I threatened her...told her if she laid a hand on me I’d tell EVERYONE that she was having an affair with the principal.

Without another word, we both walked back in to class.

Not too long later, the principal divorced his wife and married my teacher.

(See, my mom was also a teacher at the high school...I had the inside scoop and my teacher knew it.)

~smiling sweetly~

101? That’s really low these days.

Our house is pretty small! One floor plus basement, three bedrooms but they’re tiny. And Iowa is not too overpriced :)

Heh...so there's that...though it ain't sayin' much. ;-)

Hm...at the least, it's an option I hadn't really considered, and probably not a bad thing to keep in mind. Maybe I'll spend the next six months getting really square financially and get into the right mindset, and then start researching. Current landlord has never bothered to come up with a new lease agreement...so although he might fuss a bit if I give notice by, say, fall...he can't do much about it.

This house is the same way, but I’m only here because of a flood in 2005 that damaged my other house. The damage is repaired now, but I can’t pay the rent they want, so I’m stuck here.

There are plenty out there depending on where you live and stuff. Just got to look hard.
