Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
I haven’t watched much TV lately either.
It’s one I should read.
I’d make theboss read it, too, but he (almost proudly) sez he doesn’t read books unless he has to.
Yeah...not good for the horses! :-\
I had some water stashed for power outages...not super fresh, but drinkable for a dog. I poured a good amount on top of the frozen water in his bowl. The rest was frozen solid. Yesterday I ran hot water on it until the top melted, but it was really frozen today.
I guess he’ll live! It just might make his teeth hurt is all. ;-)
I’m so glad we crate trained our dogs so they can stay in their cage while we’re at work. Days like this... I would not want them outside all day in -10 temps. But I think it has to be done from puppyhood so they’ll see it as their den and not really a cage. I bet it’d make Cisco neurotic.
Well, and our cold isn’t ~that~ cold. It’s 17, but it’s headed to 40 today, and he has a dog house full of straw, and it’s not wet.
Ours, so far, we’ve still been leaving inside since we couldn’t trust Homer in the fence. And though we’ve fixed the fence, we still haven’t really tested it under stress. I think for all day, outside is ideal, unless it’s really nasty.
If we had dogs that could be trusted, we’d open up the doggie door, best of both worlds.
Have you seen the island? It's beautiful. Can't think of a place I'd rather be, except for the people.
But that's true almost anywhere.
Ah, so I would be the guy that stabbed them all and fed them to the sharks so I could have my island in peace?
hmmm
The dachshunds were crate trained, and most of the time it was nice...except that I always worried that I wouldn’t be home in time or something.
I actually think at this point Cisco would be fine indoors all day *most* of the time. He’s matured a bit, though it can be hard to tell sometimes...
But he does have a warm house, and likes being out. Agreed that a doggie door would probably be the ideal, for a dog that could be trusted and in a situation where I wouldn’t worry about cats. If I ever owned a house again, I think I’d maybe put a dog door into a room that was shut off a bit from the rest of the house, so the cats would be OK and so there wouldn’t be so much cold air flow.
What I’d *really* have trouble living without now is a fenced yard.
Tilts head...
Stands up straight...
What's interesting, Rosie, is that, as third world familys' incomes rise, as a result of better opportunities, and the death rate of children falls, their birth rates usually fall, too. If they have some confidence that they won't lose several of their children to disease at an early age, they don't tend to have as many.
And all unbeknownst!
Ha! That’s great!
I’m getting ready to go.
Well, thanks for being there, and being our ambassador. I’m hoping to hear back what it was like and how it went.
Give Becky a hug for me.
I can has nap?
That cat looks REAL intent on those birds!
