Oh dear... next you’ll be forming a drum circle over there. ;~)
If you were going to be around, I'd have you find bible quotes that can defeat this argument... I fear invoking Bill Whittle, while on point, was not exactly, a spiritual argument. Gnostic Christianity and 9/11
Heh...not likely.
It just allows me to infiltrate the enemy ranks and laugh at ‘em. ;-)
And buy cheap cooking ingredients, too...bonus.
We did a lot of shopping at the natural foods store / co-op when I was growing up...soy sauce and peanut butter and molasses often came in odd sized, reused jars without labels, we usually had paper bags of bulgar and oats and such around, and trail mix, too. Strangely, though, the natural foods store in town is owned (now, at least) by someone who usually has tons of Republican stickers on their car. Go figger. Crunchy conservatives.
Rose, and you, are on our Parish Prayer list this week, too!
We belonged to a co-op like that when SirKit was a grad student in Tallahassee. We have a store in Worcester that’s kinda similar, with bulk grains, beans, etc, but they also have bulk gummi bears, and other candies. Haven’t seen any bulk chocolate, but they have other spendy groceries that I don’t buy. Actually I usually only buy their boxes of spices, because those are a terrific price! Sometimes I’ll buy a box of tea if it’s something I haven’t seen elsewhere. If I want ‘crunchy’ stuff, I go to Trader Joe’s which is ‘crunchy’ enough for me, and their prices are terrific!
Have a safe trip!
Well, at a very quick glance.
First the statement that WWII wouldn’t have happened is ignorance of Scripture. The Bible clearly says that there will be wars and in fact says that wars are one of the signs of the end times.
For clearer arguments, read around a bit on the “just war theory.”
From a simplistic view, sure if EVERYONE lived by the teachings of Jesus and Paul sure there wouldn’t be any wars.
Good luck with trying to get the Muslim community to buy into that.
I gotta hit the road...
I think I would qualify for that designation. After all, I do eat organic yogurt and granola, and wear Birkies. ;o) And SirKit and I would love to have a solar array for hot water, and even photovoltaics for electricity! I wouldn't mind having a hybrid car that I could plug in to those solar panels, and tool around town on clean electric power, but have the option of gas for long trips.
Actually, he and Joseph are thinking about ways to generate electricity with 'Cold Fusion', which is more a chemical process than a nuclear one.
I think co-ops vary a lot. This one has a lot of items for less than they’d cost at the grocery - nuts and grains, especially, and the bulk teas. Chocolate, I meant that they have a different variety of bars than you can get just anywhere. I think they’re less expensive, too.
Mmm...spices. I’ll have to look more closely at those next time I’m there. We used to get cinnamon in bulk, and it was really good stuff. Very flavorful.
Mom also did a sort of home co-op thing for awhile with other (mostly homeschooling) mothers, where they placed orders of things like beans and rice and flour and fruit leather and chocolate chips and olive oil and natural sodas and such as a group, and got them for really cheap. I have no idea what company that was through. I wonder now. It was really exciting when the orders came in and everyone helped parcel things out!
Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts, all! :-)
Well, good! Glad to hear that!
Take care of yourself, Rose!
How did the IV go???
Apparently it was a cyst, full of fluid and, hopefully, harmless.
I have a vague memory of stuff they were doing, but sleeping was sooo much more interesting.
Our pharmacy is about a block away, so they're working on my antibiotic and pain pills.
Meanwhile, I'm starving. DaBear is cooking for me, and I think I'll take a nap later.
Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers ... they worked!
She then went to the back of my right hand, but didn't like any veins there, either. So she went back to the left arm, and put the IV in the bend of my elbow. She was pleased with it, and I was able to move the arm a bit.
But it did sting, badly ... I just hate needles, is all.
<smirk>I have a stock story I tell whenever I'm getting stuck ... I had to tell a second story for the second stick. I chose the podiatrist tale, which led to the nurse telling a even more grotesque podiatrist story. We bonded.
Wonderful news!! Glad everything went as anticipated, and you are safely home. OB & LSA
So glad it went well! Make Bear take good care of ya for a couple days :)
I got the results of my mri today... no lumps in my head, as expected. I coulda told the doc that but he wanted to be sure.
*sigh*
I wish I was good at arguing. I’m just not. Just got into a little tiff with my boss because he says fuel shortages will only get worse unless world overpopulation is corrected. I say humans are smart, we’ll figure out other sources of fuel or other means of getting things done - we always have. And that overpopulation is a myth.
But I’m not good at remembering facts and figures, so I can’t argue. Never have been able to. It drives me nuts. Usually I just avoid arguments, but this one just kind of happened.
woohoo... glad yer home safe Rose...
Thanks for the report! I’ll keep praying for her quick recovery!
If folks had the freedom to do for themselves in some of those poor countries, and were not forced by their leaders to live on land that is not arable, they could feed their families, and have extra with which to barter for the other goods they need. As you said, humans are capable of figuring out solutions, if they're allowed the freedom to do so.
