The Hobbit Hole XXXV - ...is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

Posted on 01/03/2008 6:35:58 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

If you don’t have TV viewing plans tonight, you’d enjoy “Extreme Makeover.” The family runs a therapeutic horse riding/training farm in Maryland.

Yeah - that one was literally down the road and 'round the corner from us.

Mornin’ folkses... [sip]

Brrr. Chilly with a few snowflakes here at da beaches. The commute up to the big city should be quite the adventure later. Just a trace of snow here but I’m supposing that there’s more away from the water.

How many degrees do you have?

I think we have 5.

Snow huh.... We didn’t get any of that.

Sad news this morning. Becky’s Larry, from the saddle club thread, passed away this morning at home.

We’re not quite so cold... 27. It’s chilly, and expected to stay this way most of the day, I think.

I had to try out all the functions...plus I have two years worth of baking to get out of my system!

Had one of the muffins for breakfast with yogurt. I really need to get a binder for recipes...that recipe was one I found on-line, and I’m not sure I’d be able to find it again if the print-out got lost. They really turned out wonderful!

Cheap, too. A fine quality in breakfast food. ;-)

Our degrees are bigger than your degrees...

Not by much, though. 31 now, or about that. They’re predicting mid-teens for tonight, which for here is dang cold.

Personally, no. It's one road over (parallel) from the one I drive every day. But you could hear the hammers and power tools from my friends' house - they could even see the glare from the work lights... they worked all through the night.

Local scuttlebutt has it that the new house was built on a portion of the property that could easily be subdivided and sold off... and all the little bitties are certain that's just what that lady will do. Sell it off for a profit. But that's just scuttlebutt. Other folks don't like her because she charges so much per hour - about $100 or so. (The afore mentioned friend sez "Anyone who charges that much has plenty of money and doesn't need an extreme makeover!") I think that's a fair rate considering what all goes into keeping a horse happy and healthy, not to mention insurance. Regardless, it was an exciting couple of weeks here in this corner of MD.

I’m so glad that he was able to be at home, with those who loved him, rather than stuck in the hospital.

Instead of a binder with the recipes, maybe just a notebook with the website addy. ;o)

I’d still have to print the recipe out every time...hate doing that.

Not to mention I had a bookmark folder with recipes I liked, and now a lot of the links no longer work. :-\ Paper is permanent. I could save a copy on the computer, I know, but I like having books to flip through.

I know what you mean, I have a stack of recipes I’ve printed, and I have to go through them when I want to fix something for which I know I printed the recipe!

Hey, I said nothing about napping!

Evenin’, all.

Using the oven again. Just making a coupla baked taters to have with the leftover chicken for now and tomorrow, but it’s still very, very nice to be able to do such a thing. ;-)
